Sorry, but there isn't enough "waste, fraud and abuse" in the federal budget to make up even one tenth of the annual deficit. It is simply is not sustainable to perpetually spend more than we collect. At a certain point we have to start paying our bills.

The data is in: school reopenings do not significantly increase the spread of COVID-19. Yet some teachers’ unions continue to fight to keep schools closed, even as kids suffer from losing an entire year in the classroom. In fact, the teachers’ union in the second-largest school district in America actually played the race card — or, more accurately, the Marxist critical race theory card — to condemn a toothless reopening plan as in league with “structural racism.”

Most of California’s schools have been closed for an entire year now, as the state’s powerful unions work to stall reopening.

Myart-Cruz accused white, wealthy parents of increasing that political pressure and “driving the push behind a rushed return.”

There is no evidence to support the conspiracy theory that parents want to open schools in order to target racial minorities.

Reopening schools is about helping children, not exposing communities to infection. In fact, the CDC has reported that there is “scant” transmission in classrooms.

The teachers’ unions’ steadfast opposition to reopening has far more to do with power.

UTLA and teachers unions in Sacramento and Oakland went on strike in 2019 before the pandemic. Los Angeles Unified is the second-largest school district in the nation with about 600,000 students. It is by far the largest district in the state, comprising roughly 10 percent of California’s public schoolchildren.

California’s largest teachers union is holding ten percent of the state’s public school kids hostage in exchange for what, exactly? If teachers’ unions like UTLA wish to convince Americans that public school is as important as they have preached for decades, why are they fighting tooth-and-nail against a toothless reopening plan when keeping schools closed will wreak havoc on the very children they claim to serve?

While Marxist critical race theory teaches that American society is bedeviled with hidden “structural racism” that requires brainwashing or revolutionary action to erase, and while this noxious ideology is spreading further in American society, parents are unlikely to fall for the unions crying “structural racism.”

When a member of the La Mesa-Spring Valley School Board compared school reopenings to slavery, her fellow board members snickered.

“I am Hispanic… I am Hispanic and I have four adopted children. We look like the U.N.,” Minerva Martinez Scott, a Hispanic board member, responded to the CRT proponent. “And my child has been affected by not being in school. My kid is in a facility because he had a hard time not being in school.”

At some point, Gavin Newsom is going to have to put his foot down and force teachers to do their jobs. If he doesn’t, the people of California will recall him and replace him with someone who will. That effort is already underway.

Union leader Randi Weingarten criticized Jews as "part of the ownership class" dedicated to denying opportunities to others in an interview released on Friday.

A major Jewish advocacy group ripped Weingarten for being "inaccurate and dangerous" in her generalizations about the Jewish community. StandWithUs, a pro-Israel education organization, said the union boss was "out of touch" with the experience of Jewish students

"Her comments are shockingly out of touch with the actual experiences of countless Jewish families before and during the COVID-19 pandemic, give undue legitimacy to antisemitic stereotypes, and do nothing to help bring people in Los Angeles together during this difficult time."

The American Federation of Teachers, which did not respond to a request for comment, is the second largest teachers' union in the country and one of the Democrat Party's largest financial backers. The 1.5 million-member union spent more than $20 million on the 2020 election.

Parents overwhelmingly support the effort to open schools. Gallup poll found that nearly 80 percent of parents of all religions have expressed support for in-person instruction for their children.

Why not both? I'm totally fine with Newsom forced to retire so he can dine with his .0001%-er friends in their laps of luxury.

As of right now, we're looking at my school partially reopening next week with half the kids coming back, and a full reopening in August and I'm absolutely fine with it.

When Jewish Telegraphic Agency recently asked her if she had a specific message for American Jews who have criticized her stance on school openings – which she often lies is a right-wing grievance – she answered:

American Jews are now part of the ownership class. What I hear when I hear that question is that those who are in the ownership class now want to take that ladder of opportunity away from those who do not have it.

Weingarten’s rhetoric immediately reminds one of Karl Marx’s racist anti-Semitic diatribe, “On the Jewish Question,” where the infamous crackpot argued that the “secret” of the Jew is to accumulate wealth for “practical need,” “self-interest,” and “huckstering.”

Weingarten combines two contemporary progressive doctrines, class and race struggle, to level her smear. There is not a single person who has even a mild acquaintance with American Jewry that would believe they are trying to take away “the ladder of opportunity” from others.

This brand of anti-Semitic rhetoric has been a growing feature within the "progressive" Left – which spends its days seeking out minor, often imaginary, thoughtcrimes. These are almost always rationalized and ignored. The fact is that not a single conservative would survive in public life after contending that the Jewish “ownership class” is working to stop the advancement of the less fortunate.
