I agree. Unfortunately, I'm not convinced that conservative politicians or their supporters are truly up to the task of defeating this plague - yet. Compare the degree of the depth of serious dedication and thought of today's opposition to rampant statism with that of those who resisted the same and birthed this nation in the first place.

Did it ever occur to anyone that left vs right is only a two dimensional game? We really need to get out of this insane rut. The universe is multi-dimensional - so are the possibilities of social governance.

 

This country wouldn't last that long under the statist, ideological Obama Administration, or the like thereof.

It is far easier to decline than advance in today's world. King Canute couldn't hold back the waves and no American President will return the USA to it's former (self proclaimed) glory unless austerity measures are invoked.

 

Politicians in Congress and the Senate would disagree with you, because admitting it would put them out of their jobs after the recent debacle.

 

"Ethnic cleansing" isn't a moral option. The vicious circle that is the growth of government dependency coupled with the growth of support for the political persuasion that keeps it growing, must be broken. I think it can be broken before it has finally broken the entire nation beyond repair. But, if that's going to be accomplished, it better be in the next couple of years because I'm getting the distinct impression that we are not far from the point where we have moved past any point of satisfactory rectification. If we should move past that point, wherever it may be, I think we'll find ourselves in deeper doo-doo than even the Left bargained for.

Government on all levels failed Detroit. As much as you all wanna point Coleman Young and the other Democratic Mayors of the city, you have just as many fingers pointing at the likes of Reagan, Engler, and other Republican office holders that also let it happen to both Detroit, and now America.

Just a little protectionist policy and Detroit could and would still be the industrial heart of our nation.

 

Protectionism is NOT the answer. If it were, there would still be a buggy whip industry.

 

Interesting... and so if your life is threatened, or that of someone you love, your answer is to fall on your knees with tears in your eyes and beg a bunch of monsters for mercy? Whether you realize it or not, the world today is far less civilized and more violent in many ways than it was in 1873 -- especially in many big cities in the Blue States....

Assembly Plants are the lowest and cheapest skilled workers in the auto building process, and most assembly plants in America are a result of the tiny bit of protectionism America does feature. Tariffs for a product like an automobile are much cheaper if a company sends over parts, than a fully assembled product.

 

And a normal day for Chicago or LA. An off day for any major Mexican city.
