David K Johnston claims to have spent decades covering Donald Trump, and he's confused why any conservative would support the billionaire for president. "I have covered Donald Trump off and on for 27 years including breaking the story that in 1990, when he claimed to be worth $3 billion but could not pay interest on loans coming due, his bankers put his net worth at minus $295 million. And so I have closely watched what Trump does and what government documents reveal about his conduct..." Question 20 on Johnston's list involves Trump the taxpayer: "20. Public records (cited in my book Temples of Chance) show that as your career took off, you legally reported a negative income and paid no income taxes as summarized below: 1975 Income: $76,210 Tax Paid: $18,714 1976 Income: $24,594 Tax Paid: $10,8321977 1977 Income: $118,530 Tax Paid: $42,386 1978 Income: ($406,379) Tax Paid: $0 1979 Income: ($3,443,560) Tax Paid: $0 "Will you release your tax returns? And if not, why not?" http://www.alternet.org/21-questions-donald-trump
LOL! If Trump released his tax returns, he could just admit that he manipulated the system and his popularity would rise, because everybody roots against the IRS.
Go figure. The following is from an answer Johnston supplied this morning to a question posed by Amy Goodman about Trumps taxes "...Donald, in all likelihood, despite claiming a $400 million annual income, probably doesnt pay any income taxes, because theres a special provision in federal tax law that if youre a real estate developer or operator, and your losses, your paper losses for the depreciating value of your buildings, which are really going up in value, exceed your other income, you can live tax-free. And I have three years of Donalds tax returns from the late 70s, early 80s that show large negative income and no federal income tax." http://www.democracynow.org/2015/8/19/david_cay_johnston_21_questions_for I suspect the only way Trump's Chumps will turn on him is if he ever apologizes for anything he says.
