Oh, no! The world is getting so dangerous to be a person who works in the government. As part of their daily job, they risk offending millions of people. And, perhaps, enraging some of them into action against such lawmakers.

It seems that it's not only Presidents who need to worry about being attacked and needing security nowadays.

What to do? What to do? :(

How about they can have the same protection as their constituents.

Well, when its the (Ex)President himself shamefully encouraging the attack , then yeah, they probably do need more security.

I suppose Its debatable if what he said directly caused the violence. Certainly enough people thought it was enough to impeach him......again. Even many Republicans and most Americans have had it with him. As President, he inherently had an obligation to try and keep the peace, and rise above any issues he has. His actions since the election and at the Capitol speech were anything but encouraging peace. At best he acted like a spoiled baby that lost his binky, at worst he's a psychotic trader, I tend to think the later.

What about the people on the southside of Chicago? More people are being killed there than on the Capitol grounds. When was the last time a politician was killed?

They just need to pass a law. No firearms within five hundred yards of a congressman. Solved.

Allow them to carry a whistle, but only one.

All good suggestions. The whistle needs some kind of magazine which limits them to no more than eight whistles without reloading.

Republican Ties to Extremist Groups Are Under Scrutiny

"Nearly 150 House Republicans supported President Donald J. Trump’s baseless claims that the election had been stolen from him. But Mr. Gosar and a handful of other Republican members of the House had deeper ties to extremist groups who pushed violent ideas and conspiracy theories and whose members were prominent among those who stormed the halls of Congress in an effort to stop certification of President-elect Joseph R. Biden Jr.’s victory.

Their ranks include Representative Andy Biggs of Arizona, who like Mr. Gosar was linked to the “Stop the Steal” campaign backing Mr. Trump’s effort to overturn the election’s outcome. Representative Lauren Boebert of Colorado has close connections to militia groups including the so-called Three Percenters, an extremist offshoot of the gun rights movement that had at least one member who entered the Capitol on Jan. 6. Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene has promoted the QAnon conspiracy theory, whose adherents were among the most visible of those who stormed the building, and she appeared at a rally with militia groups.

Propaganda. That's what it is. They're using this as propaganda to push out all forms of political dissent. The government was always waiting for something like the Capitol to happen, to take advantage of these type of opportunities. That's why those idiots were idiots. If you really thought they stole the government, well now you gave them the political capital to do a hell of a lot more.

The article you provided a link for was reporting on threats to the country............"The United States could face a heightened threat of domestic extremist violence for weeks from people angry at Donald Trump’s election defeat"...........not the threats members of Congress have received.

I love it. The QAnon types were thinking they would expose the corruption of Dems and take them down, but this turnaround shows that Republican groups are the ones who will be taken down.
