Dennis Flemming, 61, held a thief who had broken into his New Hampshire home at gunpoint until the police arrived on the scene. When the police arrived they arrested both the thief and Mr. Flemming who now faces a sentence roughly equal to that of the burglar. The state wants to put Flemming away for about 7 years on a “reckless conduct” charge.

The guy who I used to work with was recovering from a triple bypass , In my opinion he was correct to protect himself, a lawyer has come forward to represent him , please pray for the guy to win this case

Absolutely ridiculous. The guy should be lauded as a hero, and instead he is being thrown in jail. What the heck is wrong with our legal system?

Should have shot him, said he "threatened your life" and he wouldn't be in this situation.

I obviously agree this is ridiculous, hopefully justice will prevail.

He broke the law by firing the gun. Ignorance of the law is not an excuse. If you are a gun owner, you should know the laws regarding guns and the firing of them.

That said, he shouldn't be imprisoned.

Certainly circumstance should play a role in how the law is applied. If my elderly neighbor's house is burning down and she is trapped in her bedroom, and I smash a window to gain access into her home and break down her bedroom door to rescue her, should I be prosecuted for breaking and entering, trespassing, as well as destruction of property?

In the heat of the moment, we should be giving all the benefit of the doubt to the vicitims of crime, rather than nitpicking every detail of how they handled themselves under such dire circumstances.

    Ayuh,.... Truly Amazin',....

If that happened over here in the Progressive Liberal haven of NYS, where there is No Castle Doctrine,...
    It would be almost believable...

What the 'ell is goin' on over there in New Hampshire,..??
Common sense is out the window I guess... The Progressives have invaded....

Has there been a legal defense fund started,..??
    I'd be interested in contributing...

This is very good news. However, it's still scary to think that charges were ever filed in the first place against this hero. What the hell were they thinking?

Goes to show you that there are people, in this case the police, who don't know the difference between right and wrong, good and evil.

Why would a rational jury convict the guy in the first place?
