To be honest I rarely use cash. I can't remember the last time I used it.

~ A cashless society likely means electronic currency/payments that are monitored and "regulated " by — GOVERNMENT .

    No thanks ...

I purchase with a single credit card. Then each month I go on-line with my PC and pay the bill. The balance number in my bank checking account is reduced by the amount of the credit card bill. It's all numbers to me. I once purchased a new vehicle on my credit card and received the title before the credit card bill was due. We are certainly moving towards a cashless society. It is convenient but fraught with criminal activity. Someone once offered to buy my vehicle and pay with a certified bank check. I refused the check. I told them I wanted cash and so the sale fell through.

I'm not sure the term "cash" is relevant. No matter what society does, there is some form of "cash" that is used, it just takes different forms.

Not really the point. I don't have the stats but a good guess is that 98% of financial transactions here are not in cash. But the government does not get a record of every transaction done -- how much, where, what for, with whom, etc.

They want to make everything cashless because millennials don’t know math
This is what happens when you teach social justice instead of skills
The other day I got something that was 6 bucks and I gave a 10 and a 1 so I could get a 5 back
Watching how much time it took the millennial to figure this out was painful
This new dumb generation can’t even do basic math without their “smart”phones

As a substitute high school teacher I used to ask students, "Why do you call them smart phones when all you can do is play stupid games?"

We are moving towards a "cashless" society. If you think about it, most purchases are paid by debit card or credit card. We have Samsunp Pay, Apple Pay, Google Pay, etc to make purchases easier. Most people pay online using ACR method instead of writing an old fashioned check. We generally get paid by direct deposit, and cash only businesses are becoming a thing in the past.

Evenually, all payments will be done electronically. But that won't happen until the security systems are improved against hacking. But we are getting there.

When I go out I have a debit card in my back pocket. No need for a purse and no reason to worry about it being stolen. The tap transaction is a little more worrisome, but they have capped it at $100 or $200 at most places. All my banking is done on my PC and I use etransfer to pay contractors or workers. I've never been happier or my life been easier. I can't imagine waiting in line at the bank anymore.

Do I worry about big brother knowing my business? Nope. 'They' can have a look anytime they want and they'll get bored silly.

If you trust the idea that the government doesn't have access to every single transaction not done by cash (and sometimes, even then) you may be interested to in the idea that the government cannot trace your cell phone location, or your electric vehicle.

While my post is laced a bit with sarcasm, the government can find out about virtually every transaction you make. If WalMart can look up your transaction from 2 weeks ago to refund a return, your data is being store and is accessible.

Did someone ask how often you use cash? Is that what you took out of the OP?

Correct the government does not get a record of EVERY transaction. But they CAN get a record ANY of transaction they wish. This idea of a cashless society is loved by bankers and others in the financial world but the government wants it desperately. It's power waiting to be abused.

Why does government want to control all money? It gives them the power that they always felt alluded them. It makes government the custodian of who can have what and how much. Think on that a spell. I can't think of a more invasive abuse of government. And if it's all ethereal, and government decides to punish you, do your deposits vanish? I mean, we've see what happens in China, and this is what democrats are clamoring for. How curious.....

"The government is evil... that I didn't create"??? Doesn't make sense. I'll just stick with just another right-winger clinging to QAnon "Deep State" conspiracy theories. More consistent with facts.

But hey... thanks for trying to help...

A conspiracy thread that you didn't create... Have fun pushing your content up to the Q. They do seem to do the DNC's bidding, and always have.

    Interesting.

What specific statements are you claiming to be incorrect in the OP? I don't see anything in the OP that can even be debated. It seems like a simple recitation of associated logic to me. I suppose you could try to argue whether the government could/would "close your money" in certain circumstances, but is that really all that far-fetched?
