A muslim thought about stabbing me today because Islam is the religion of peace

They WERE fighting for Christianity. They were ensuring that it could never be threatened again by a Moorish invasion. Everybody seems to know about the Crusades, but few know about, or even care about how close Christianity came to being extinguished, how the enemies were stopped at Vienna and within site of the Vatican. Nobody fighting in the Crusades was unaware they were taking a war to a foe that had first taken the war to them.

 

By that logic, Jews would have been completely justified steamrolling over every Christian country and forcing the people there to accept Judaism, after the Christians committed the first Holocaust during and after the Black Plague, expelling Jews from their homes, slaughtering entire communities, all because they blamed the Jews for the plague.

 

Your argument is all over the place, Scarecrow. You said specifically that "Christianity" invaded countries to convert them. Now, you're agreeing that they were fighting for Christianity.

So which is it?

Were they trying to retake lost ground, prevent further aggression, or trying to make "new" converts through warfare of people that were Christian (Jewish and pagan) before Islam converted them through warfare.

Come on, let's have a real discussion.

You again have no sense of proportion. If Jews were to retaliate against those religions that caused them the most harm, nearly all of their aggression would be directed at Muslims and Atheists. Unlike Muslims and Atheists, the Catholic Church apologized and made reparations for these offenses, so I'm not going to pretend you have the right to keep cudgeling us with it, because you don't.

 

You seem to like black and white. But that's not how most things work, especially not human motives. Some were fighting for power, some were fighting for their belief, but all of this happend in the name of Christianity.

It is hard to "apologize and make reparations for offenses. . ." that are being ignored or denied!

 

Seems either there is a lot of willful ignorance by those who point out past injustices toward Jews that have been corrected while neglecting that it was Christians in early America, that welcomed Jews, and protected their right to practice their religion without government interference. And they conveniently neglect the fact that it was Christians in Europe who put their lives on the line to rescue as many Jews as possible from the Nazi's.

And for those who want to attack the Roman Catholic church on the Holocaust, obviously they are ignorant of the underground railroad that the sitting pope had set up to get Jews out of Nazi hands, and used RCC resources to do it. I for one applaud those brave and humanitarian actions.

And they conveniently refuse to admit that muslim armies marched across Christian countries in the middle east, N. Africa in military conquest in the 7th century, all of which were previously Christian lands.

You prefer to live in your illusions of "perfect Christianity" instead of looking at Christianity as a man made, man driven, man controlled religion. . .like all religions. You would have a LOT MORE credibility if you didn't try to white wash the true history of Christianity, and faced both the good and the bad that Christianity has brought to the world.

Whatever. . .I am just wondering how strong your Christian face is, if you need to totally ignore the negatives in Christianity in order to be a "good Christian."

I'm afraid if you truly opened your eyes, you would lose your faith, because your faith appears to be based mostly on illusions of perfection.

I see the good and the bad in Christianity, and I can forgive the bad, because I understand that NO MAN is perfect. . .no matter if that man is Jewish, Christian, or Muslim (or atheist, for that matter).

So, in one way, I think I give more credit to Christians (those who ACCEPT reality and display an open mind and a strong commitment to honesty in their faith) than you do!

 

Back to school, Mohammed. Exodus is from the Jewish Bible (the Old Testament) Christians follow the New Testament. Why do you think the New Testament was written ? So they could follow the Old one ?
