Meanwhile, back in reality, it's now Trump trying to find excuses to run. He's now demanding drug testing.

And when he does run, you'll no doubt be singing how brave Sir Trump bravely ran away.

Liberals? We can't wait to have Joe slap you all around yet another time, so you can cry about he must have been on drugs.

RFK, being fundamentally gutless, will only attract Trump voters, who see gutlessnesses as a qualification for office.

Witness him trying to walk back his most recent insanity. If you're going to say crazy things, then stand behind your crazy.

Reading a teleprompter is Joe's limit. Won't be one in a debate. Good luck.

That's why there won't be any Presidential Debates unless Trump agrees to let Biden show up on a video feed.

    So no debates.

Democrats will make some kind of absurd demand.

Good luck with that! I was in a local political discussion group prior to the 2020 election debate. After Trump's dismal performance, where he was even bad-mouthing the moderators, all of the MAGA fans were saying things like, "WTF was that?"

This is 2024 and Biden won't have a teleprompter.

This is 2024, and Trump is even more unhinged.

No Labels has given up. I have been following them and receiving their emails. I got this one yesterday.

By now, most of you have heard the news that we are ending our 2024 unity ticket effort. In doing so, we are staying true to our word - that if we were unable to find candidates with a viable path to victory, we would step aside.

It is the responsible thing to do in this case, but it does not change how we feel about the choice America faces in this election. In fact, it leaves us more determined than ever to fix the fundamental problems that led America to this moment.

Those problems were on display as we worked on this project, including the intimidation tactics and smear campaigns by the political establishment, which even went so far as to set up a phony clone of our website designed to make us look like extremists. We stood in the arena and took the fight head on, and our message struck a chord with millions who feel exhausted and betrayed by our two parties.

Our mission now is to build a movement for those voters that outlasts this election and delivers enduring change to American politics. It’s a task that, despite overwhelming need and demand, no other group appears willing to take on, yet it's the logical extension of our 14-year record that includes founding the Problem Solvers Caucus and helping hatch major bipartisan legislative wins such as the infrastructure bill.

We've always been a movement of action rather than words, and that continues in this election. While there won’t be a unity ticket to support, we’ll work to influence both candidates and inject commonsense solutions into the debate. We’ll also lend our support to congressional candidates who can help rebuild the shrinking center in Congress and establish a beachhead for future gains.

We'll also recommit to the basics of movement building—grassroots, issues advocacy, and raising our voices as citizens and voters. That’s how we’ll gather more Americans to our banner and enter 2026 and 2028 with enough momentum to begin turning the tide.

Beyond that, our plans are still being written, but rest assured that No Labels is not done with big ideas. And we'll need big ideas in the coming years. Our country has some difficult days ahead. Our division will almost certainly get worse before it gets better.

For now, everyone involved in this movement should be incredibly proud. Your courage and vision changed the conversation around this election and our accomplishments are a foundation for all that's to come. It’s okay to grieve the end of this project, but we need to get back on the field quickly.

There is work to do, and our country needs us more than ever.

Thank you for your dedication to this cause.

    Sincerely,

    Nancy Jacobson

The last time there were no debates was in 1972. That year Nixon depended on his dirty tricks which resulted in his eventual resignation.

Biden will take a big hit if he refuses to debate. If Trump could keep his wits about him, he should be able to tear up Biden with ease, even if Biden is on speed to keep him awake

The "No Labels" had more than enough time to get its act together, and it couldn't do it. When you can't run a decent campaign, you don't have what it takes to be President. George McGovern proved that in 1972.

Will he take "a hit?" Is there even one lefty Biden supporter on this forum who wouldn't back Biden's decision to not debate? I don't think so. Certainly no one in the media will complain.

If Biden won't debate it means he can't.

Those people are hopeless. Biden could walk out to Marine One in diaper, and they would still say Biden has its wits about him.

Sure but that will have nothing to do with how it will be spun in the media.

"I cannot in good conscious debate with an insurrectionist."

He can't. He speaks to the reporters' shouted questions (The only kind they can get him to take.) in one and two syllable words. Biden's brain is gone.

I'm sure all the media will spin it in Biden's favor except for Fox.

There were no debates in 1972 because Nixon was so far ahead and did not need to give McGovern oxygen.

Any candidate who refuses to debate because he or she is far ahead deserves a slap down. That's one thing I hated about the Trump primary campaign. Trump hid out behind his big lead. I am voting for Trump only because the alternative is utterly terrible.

As for Nixon, he was not about to get into another debate after he lost in 1960, probably because he was bested by Jack Kennedy in the first debate. He also refused to debate Humphrey in 1968, and he didn't have a secure lead then.

Nixon had a lead throughout the 1968 campaign. Humphrey closed fast, but could not make up the ground.

I'll stand by my statement that Nixon won't commit to debating again because of what happened to him in 1960.

Broadcasting laws were such that simple debates between the two major candidates couldn't be held. All the candidates, no matter how fringe they might be, would have to be included. That was changed before the 1976 campaign.
