Kidding. You have been here for years and have no definition of terrorism that you use to assign a realistic designation?

Use your eyesight. I searched for the history of terrorism as that was what I wanted to know. That brought the result I posted.

Nope. I asked what definition Abu used. If one is using a whole variety of them it is difficult to remain constant so trying to see how Abu defines it is all. If you wish you may also give us your definition that is widely accepted.

    - - - Updated - - -

Uh huh. I didn't depute that but was wondering what definition you use to assign the word to an action is all. Golly, pretty benign question to tell the truth, especially when there are a few definitions contained within the article you posted.

I've sometimes wondered about areas of "overlapping states" governed at the municipal level with free access by citizens of both states.
And then territories of Non-Overlapping States, Israel and Palestine.
Further, Jews would be citizens of the Jewish State and maybe, just maybe, all Muslims would be citizens of the Arab state. The remaining issue is freedom for all to own land.

Re.: Do we need a Palestinian Navy, Air Force, Army.
I believe Costa Rica opted out of developing a national military. True?
Even if easily overpowered by Israel, "we" don't need that tension.
Their are plenty of Arab states with military capability to guarantee the Palestinian borders and sovereignty.

The Arab/Israel conflict is a legacy of the Cold War. The US and Soviet Union fought the Cold War through proxy conflicts around the world. Smaller nations were pressured to align themselves with one or the other. The fates of these smaller nations were understood to reflect on the superpower which was their sponsor. Israel was always on the US side; the Arab states on the Soviet. Even after the Cold War ended, the imperial loyalties lingered.

Many people around the world resent the US for many reasons, justifiable or not. Since Israel is so firmly identified as a US ally, all these US enemies vent their resentment on Israel. If Israel is a US ally, something must be wrong with it, or so they feel. People and governments who might fear open opposition to the US believe they can oppose Israel with safety.

It goes without saying that all those who once supported the Soviet Union still oppose Israel. This includes the entire political left in the US and Europe. Anti-Zionism and, yes, antisemitism is an unexamined moral deformity of the left. (For example, my cousin, who's a professor at the University of Michigan, has witnessed anti-Israel protestors outside his synagogue every sabbath for over a decade. One asks why these haters persist in targeting a synagogue, not some pro-Israel institution ... unless there's no difference in their minds between Jews and Zionists.)

But what about Israel's - "the Zionists" - horrible crimes? Anyone reading a good paper must know that the world is awash in massacres, wars, ethnic cleansing, and persecution. Simply awash in it. There are few nations large or small against whom an accusatory finger can't be pointed. That being so, one wonders why so much attention is paid to the comparatively minor infractions of Israel, if they're infractions at all and not self-defense. I don't see any threads about the Congolese civil war (at least 4 million dead), religious persecution in India or Indonesia, the plight of South America's Indians, the plight of East Turkestan, Chechnya, ad infinitum. No, the one injustice that cries out for redress, according to the left, is that of the Palestinians. I believe this emphasis is consistent with the left's anti-American and former pro-Soviet stance.

Why is it ok for you to use the term Neo-Zionism? Isn't it also a racial slur?

Here's how Wikipedia describes Zionism (see Zionism) -

"Zionism is a form of nationalism of Jews and Jewish culture that supports a Jewish nation state in the territory defined as the Land of Israel. Zionism supports Jews upholding their Jewish identity, opposes the assimilation of Jews into other societies and has advocated the return of Jews to Israel as a means for Jews to be a majority in their own nation, and to be liberated from antisemitic discrimination, exclusion, and persecution that had historically occurred in the diaspora."

Now what is the Palestinian Movement (PM)? I think we can just substitute the proper nouns in Wikipedia's description -

PM is a form of nationalism of Palestinians and Palestinian culture that supports a Palestinian nation state in Israel or territories of Israel. PM supports Palestinians upholding their Palestinian identity, opposes the assimilation of Palestinians into other societies and has advocated the return of Palestinians to Israel or territories of Israel as a means for Palestinians to be a majority in their own nation, and to be liberated from discrimination, exclusion, and persecution that had historically occurred in Arab countries and in their dealings with Israel.

    Similar, no?

That being so, I wonder why such outrage is directed at Zionists by the left, who warmly embrace Palestinians.

No, you haven't got it right. This is correct
It remains so till this day and was the reason for the Nabka and the continual ethnic cleansing which has gone on since. The enlargement of that society through increase in land and the need to keep Palestinians as a subservient minority is the key to why there cannot be a solution.(even Arab citizens do not have the same rights as Jews, for instance immigration but a lot more too)

When Jews arrived in Palestine on their zionist attempt, they deliberately kept apart from arabs.

The Palestinians on the other hand wanted one state, for all to live together - admittedly by the time there were 600,000 Jews there it was OTT but they do not have the same need for ethnic nationalism as Zionist Jews. Prior to the massive influx of Jews intent on taking over their promised state, if a Jew arrived in Palestine and learned the language and took part in community activities, they were generally accepted. Prior to Israel the ME had Jews, Muslims and Christians living certainly more happily together than Jews did in the West, The Palestinians are still both Muslim and Christian with even a few secret Jews I have heard.

So no, ethnic Nationalism is Zionism and was the reason for the Nabka and lack of settlement but to try to equate that with the Palestinians is false.

Alexa, your post presents a mirror image of history.

Israel is the ancestral home of Jews, where they have been a presence for thousands of years, unlike so-called Palestinians, who never had a national or cultural identity until one was invented for them by pro-Soviet journalists after the 1967 war. The "expansion" you mention is an effort to restore the ancient boundaries of the Jewish nation, not to go beyond.

Jews have been persecuted in all Islamic countries, as Christians and members of other religions have been. The record is ample and old - long before the modern state of Israel, Muslims tolerated non-Muslims in their countries only as second-class persecuted citizens. The Palestinians of today act as Muslims have for a thousand years and more. Right now, Coptic Christians in Egypt are being murdered and their churches burned only because they're not Muslim. Ten years ago, thousands of Roman Catholics were massacred in Indonesia for being non-Muslim (see Indonesia and Christians) Here are 39 reports of Christians being persecuted in Palestinian areas. Almost all Jews have been driven from their ancient homes in the Middle East, and Christians are under attack. Muslims everywhere and at all times have demonstrated an unwillingness to live with non-Muslims, unless Muslims had uncontested control.

So your story about welcoming Palestinians and stand-offish Jews sounds to me like a fairy tale, a latter-day Garden of Eden. It might be that when Palestine was ruled by Britain there was a peace between Muslims and Jews imposed by Britain, but that would mean nothing when Britain withdrew. You'll recall that Britain partitioned Palestine, creating separate regions for Jews (Israel) and Muslims (Jordan). This wouldn't have been done if there was the happy commingling you imagine. If Jews kept apart, it was because they had just survived the Holocaust. They had every reason to huddle for mutual support.

My post discounted your attempt to give a dishonest impression of the Palestinians claiming you could take a wiki description of Zionists and use it instead on Palestinians. Lets begin with a little honesty.

and who is the one involved in fairy tales now!! The Palestinians have been living in the area up to 5000 years. Jews claim dominion for about 70 years which does not come up to archeological discovery. Certainly there is a Jewish history as well as a Christian and Muslim one but Jews were an extreme minority before Zionism began.

Does not take away from the reality that through history Jews have been treated better in Muslim countries than anywhere else. Heck even as a child here people used to look down on the Christians who were of a different denomination than them.

I don't think this is right though I do know it is the spin. A week or two ago I was looking at some Muslim country, it may have been Egypt and it said that Jews were given equal rights around 1880 I think.

The Palestinians today are people who have suffered from decades of abuse, who have no ability to be self determining. If they are as you say. It is the behaviour of Zionist Jews which is the reason.

    This is just racism

None the less it is the truth. When you suffer from the prejudice you do, which stereotypes all people of a particular religion or culture to be malign of course you do not let yourself know the truth. I pity you.

seriously, do you know what you are talking about at all?

    http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/releases/2006/january/january1/palestine.htm

Britain withdrew because of Jewish terrorism, knowingly leaving the arabs to face what happened. - that is in later archives

Zionist Jews were arriving in Palestine from around 1880 and right from then they wanted to keep apart as they were already secretly working at taking the land away from the indigenous population. Really you are so opinionated but you have no idea what you are talking about.

Years? With all the Netiquette Nanny Mod Squad terrorists, the life expectancy of a PF warrior before getting banned can't be more than a few months. Has Moon been in the PF Heir National Guard? Did his Daddy get him that safe hideaway here?

Israel is a beleagured and unappreciated outpost of civilization against the rabid Arab rabble, who are the enemies of mankind and have been so long before Mohammed.
