Just called Direct TV because I do not get those 4 Networks any more and was told the US Government has not renewed their license and that's why they can not provide those channels anymore.

Has anybody heard about that to ?

Well, I have direct TV and I'm watching KFMB ( which is the local TV station that broadcasts CBS ) so, if that one is good
So, let me go over to NBC, nope, that one is fine. IF those two are fine, then all the others are probably good. I know MSNBC is good, CNN, fine, and FOX, no problem.

Apparently you've been misinformed. You should check the details of your subscription.

There is no way in hell Trump can direct the FCC to not renew licenses, there would be 1A lawyers by the truckloads all over that puppy. if that is what you were implying, because the FCC has no interest in blocking these stations, it doesn't make one iota of sense that they would, though I can see Trump trying, but he does not have that authority, plus the political backlash would be severe, I mean, think of the hypocrisy of it, he's always talking about how 'liberals' are censoring free speech on college campuses ( and some are, which I vehemently disagree with. Both Bill Maher and Ann Coulter have been disallowed to speak on some college campuses ).

Have you ever heard of a concept calling 'staying on point'? Try it, no guarantees, but you just might feel better about yourself.

I made a second and third call.
Apparently Direct TV failed to renegotiate its license concerning the Net Works with Colorado and they had to drop the Networks of their satellite programs. They never informed their customers.
I hardly watch the Networks, I just wanted to see how the NASCAR race was going and I could not get the Fox Channel. Last week it worked, but the license ran out May 31.
Oh well, Dish has a license

If it's a contract dispute it will probably be settled quickly, those are our major networks.

Your response to the OP, was thus:

You were apparently trying to make a political point, but it had nothing to do with the OP, and, as such, is 'off point', which resulted in my reply.

    Capiche?

Must be a local issue, I'm having no trouble seeing any of the networks and I have DirectTV.

As I type this Fox news is playing in the background on DirecTV. I watched local news on CBS earlier today on DirecTV. You have some bad information.

You must be responding to gnoib, the OP-er, I'm not having and issue with it.

I don't read well in my retired age

I do miss Al Jazerra & RT on my cable.
Remember they reported the :flagus: bombing of a
Doctors Without Borders facility weeks before the West's "News" did.

If what gnoib was saying in the OP was right NOBODY would be able to see those networks any more.

I truly don't think that just about all of our television has just been canceled

I had similar issues with Comcast here in Colorado. My advice....cut the cord (or dish). Broadband is the future anyway, you can get NASCAR live online + more, for much less than Direct TV.

Broadband would be nice, we have DSL with about 20KB average.

It is indeed a Colorado problem, or a problem between Direct TV and Colorado and they had to drop the local networks, ABC, NBC, CBS and Fox

Broadband means download speeds of at least 25mbps and upload speeds of at least 3mbps, which is most cable and satellite companies.

I have Cox cable and wifi. Cable is 100mbps and wifi is half of that. I don't know what Direct TV ( which is now Att&t ) is, but I'm sure it's at least that.

So, when you 'cut the cord and dish' and go broadband, well, that doesn't really make sense.

If he directed the FCC to deny the licenses of even the most kook channel like MSNBC I would instantly come out in strong opposition. Freedom of expression is so important that they shouldn't have to get a license in the first place.
