"Abortion is murder"...the rhetoric vs the reality

Technically, it would be legal (and not murder) if the abortion happened in a different state.

 

But you believe it is murder don't you? Or do you not believe it is murder?

Also, under a hypothetical abortion prohibition, either it would be illegal for a pregnant women to visit a state where abortion is legal, OR women who visit other states to have abortions, would be legally required to pay very high fines.

 

So then in your mind if she was leaving to go murder her fetus wouldn't that be the same to you as her leaving to try and murder her 5 year old? And you wouldn't try to stop her?

I did read the rest of it. It was irrelevant to the question I asked. You really wouldn't try to stop her? You would just go, eh whatever, as long as she is fined a lot of money it's cool.

 

In a hypothetical abortion prohibition, the fine would be so high (for women who visit other states to have abortions), that very few women would go to the other states where abortion is legal, to have abortions. Pregnant women who go to other states would not be fined. However, women who had abortions in other states would be fined.

Again and again, my point is proven by Sam and the "pro-lifers"....in a specifically outlined scenario, they do NOT believe abortion is "the same thing" as murder.

And he's talking about "fines". If somebody murders somebody in Somalia, where there is no law....does the United States "fine" them upon return to the USA???

 

Pasithea....they're admitting it....clearly, if they believe "subtlely". Put in a hypothetical scenario (a realistic one if they actually believe abortion bans can become legal).....they DO NOT believe abortion should be treated as "the same as" murder.....even unto themselves. They'd let the pregnant woman go.....while ANYbody else would stop the woman with the AR-15 heading for a daycare.

It is not "the same thing"....anymore to them, as it is to us who are pro-choice.

 

And how exactly would you prove that is why she was going to another state to begin with? What if nobody but her knew she was pregnant and she's certainly not telling anyone. Plus if you wanted to do this you'd have to set up road checks at every state exit/entrance. As it currently is, so long as you are an American citizen, you can cross through state lines with no one stopping you. Do you really think we have the manpower to set up road blocks between states for this purpose alone? It's just insane.

 

Now you're back to "border crossing" or even "random street corner" ultrasounds....which Anders and Sam have endorsed under the "Pro-life Utopia".

 

And with conservatives flipping out about how the budget is being spent I can't imagine how they'd ever justify spending millions and millions of dollars on extremely invasive 'ultrasound' checkpoints. Where the hell is Bugs Bunny? Because this is just Looney Tunes.

 

In a situation like that, there would be no records to prove that somebody was murdered in Somalia.

 

If abortion was illegal on a federal level (like through a constitutional amendment), there would be no states where abortion is legal.

 

Still wouldn't stop them going to Canada or another country where it is legal .. but hang on that would only be the rich women wouldn't it, the poor would just have to live with it.

 

Oh rightwingers turn into "free spending liberals"....when it's something THEY want....just ask them about the Defense Budget or the War on Drugs.

Back to the original question, Sam....if somebody said they were going to Somalia to MURDER SOMEONE....

would you call the FBI or State Department and try to stop them?

 

Sam is a young man (17 years old) who has been taught all his life that a national ban on abortion WOULD end or stop most abortions...or even almost all of them....if only it could get passed.

He has never actually thought about it...and when he is questioned on it, he resorts to things like dreams of "random ultrasound checks" and a police state making sure women are "going abroad to kill their babies" or "Everybody will support it being illegal...there will be no 'black market' abortions or abortion 'speakeasies' or smuggled in RU-486"

He's been fed lies and myths...and never faced anybody questioning them. And it leaves him stumped and scrambling and trying to change the subject.

 

I'm sure that in the 1800s, a person would've reacted much differently to someone saying they own a black slave, versus someone saying they own a white captive - by Gornie's standard, that'd 'prove' a black person isn't human.

The is because they know they can't debate the facts, so they have to deflect from the issue, hence these asinine threads
