Academi, formally known as Xe, formally known as Blackwater is a private army-for-hire that is based in the USA.

If it's unpopular to send 100,000 more freely enlisted soldiers, better to buy 25,000 war veterans at twice the pay- that way the combat war dead won't appear as high as it is.

The Middle East is crawling with Academi in unknown numbers at an unknown, no-bid contract deals with the USA.

Brings me back to the first Iraqi war where we had 400,000 troops and they had one route of escape. A dozen Americans died and 100,000 Iraqis met with bomb or bullet.

Dubya tries it with a quarter the troops and meets miserable failure: the Iraqis are not sheep to be herded.

I am bringing light to the reality of the situation and in some circles this is news.

Kinda wants me to recall all third-entity beings from the war. Of course that would mean bringing up 50-100,000 more soldiers to replace them but I don't see how this could possibly cost more to remove the most expensive part.

I am calling for peace. I want an end of hostilities and democracy a chance to exist over there. I know it is a tall order but it can be done with diplomacy, not bombs. I am amazed at how interested you all are on the media's "issue of the day" but we are at war nonetheless... WAR. MISERY. DEATH. DESTRUCTION. And other bad words. All happening right now on our behalf. But hey- let's all look at Beyonce for a minute!

    jmpet, et al,

Since the forced troop reductions and civilianization of of key support functions within the military infrastructure after the Cold War (slang for Cold War dividend), there were intentional manpower decisions made.

    (COMMENT)

The use of Private Security Companies (PSCs) was a natural outcome. What is your alternative given the attitudes of Congress?

And what would you do with diplomatic missions? What is your alternative suggestion?

We've used civilians in key roles since the American Indian Wars. What alternatives do you have in mind that Congress would entertain?

    Most Respectfully,
    R
