Amazon Shuts Down Smart Home for a Week Over Racist Slur Claim

I dont understand what the guy was expecting... I dont have 'smart home' stuff because this is precisely the sort of thing I would worry about happening with such devices. I mean it seems obvious this what can (and eventually will) happen.

 

One of my experiences occurred when the wife said she wanted a new bridle for her horse. Suddenly I was getting ads for bridles.

 

People working on classified material are not allowed to do so outside of a SCIF. Unless you have the space and the boatload of money to build your own SCIF at your house, the classified stuff stays at the office.

Also, none of these devices are allowed inside a SCIF. Not even a smart watch or fitbit.

Um ... fascism and Leftist are polar opposites on the political scale. Otherwise, I agree. I use devices sparingly, I don't use Alexa at all, and I stay off social media. I recommend it.

The government can basically use all your smart devices to spy on you.
Camera's and mic's are up for grabs for them with a hack.
No reason to not trust Edward Snowden on this.

And it's very doubtful this power is just limited to the US government.

Snowden is a traitor, period. As for collecting personal data on people, that has been going on for countless years, just now, it is much easier with the electronic devices.

 

A company instantly cancelling/firing/destroying someone's life, for often incorrect information or something they never said, because the company is using guidelines set up by LEFTIST nutjobs. Only a WOKE corporation would cancel services simply because someone CLAIMED they heard something "racist". You know exactly what WOKE means. Don't play coy. Don't play innocent. Woke is relying on DEI policy. Woke is relying on AA and equity, even when they can see the damage its causing. Woke is finding racism in ANYTHING. Woke is simply radical Leftist agendas that defy logic, which destroys productivity, profit and fairness all in the name of social justice, trying to fix what isn't broken. Hence...get Woke go broke. See Budweiser. See Disney. Even Target. The most high profile examples. And "broke" is more equivalent to losing money. It'll take a while for many of these large corporations to exactually go broke. At some point, common sense will prevail...maybe=)

Firstly, I'm not playing innocent. I do know what wokeness is, but I see that you have it wrong, which is why I asked for your definition. All the term means is that one recognizes the facts that not everyone is mainstream, white, Christian, and heterosexual.

I agree that too many people are being fired because of their political or social opinions. I agree that some corporations have gone out of their way to be inclusive, and the political correctness from the left has become a type of intolerance itself. However, I prefer that overboard approach to the extreme, fear-based hatred and intolerance on the right.

 

The definition of fascism fits almost perfectly with leftist beliefs. Go on, look it up. There was an entire thread on it in which the OP leftist got embarrassed trying to argue that it didn't fit leftist political philosophy.

 

That extreme fear based hatred is on the left, you seek to an acknowledge its existence but fail to recognize the threat it actually poses.

 

Far more fear based intolerance from the Left. Fired for calling a mentally il person the wrong pronoun? Fired or can’t work without a shot? Can’t enter the country without a shot? There is no systemic control over anything on the Right. This was more seen back in the 60s and prior but that’s all flipped now.

Woke has nothing to do with NOT being or seeing something. It has to do with seeing what isn’t even there Woke people are the intolerant. They’re the ones inventing the problems. Yes not everyone is white or Christian or straight. But most people aren’t LGBT or minorities either, yet the minority is dictating how the rest of us have to live, speak, be entertained, etc.

Ever notice commercials don’t have straight white couples anymore? It’s like we don’t exist, yet we are the majority. If Aliens watched commercials they would think we’re all mixed marriages with adopted children, hehe. We’re NOT. So why is that all we ever see? That’s woke BS trying to program people how to think. I seek to acknowledge facts. I don't see the overbearing political correctness as a threat. To me, having lived through nuclear air raid drills as a child, and all manner of left and right nonsense in the decades since I began voting in 1972, I see it as a destructive fad. This will pass, and soon be replaced by other fads and memes.

 

It’s fascism disguised as political correctness. Everything you see the right as responsible for, all the hate you think you see, this fad as you put it, has caused the same things to happen. From people losing their jobs, losing school opportunities, being assaulted, bullied, and even killed. And it isn’t a rarity either.

 

It also just so happens to be the single most destructive element in our society currently. As far as simple monetary value goes, largely due to blm and antifa.
