You don't understand what free speech means. You are not free to enter a private company and start screaming nonsense. They have the right to remove you. Free speech: CONGRESS shall make no law restrict the freedom of speech. CONGRESS, not Twitter or Facebook. Companies have the right to define and enforce their own policies.
Should the government force companies to sell certain products? That's what you are asking for, as does Trump and all other big government cronies.
Trump should have gotten after the monopolies a while ago, but the Democrats kept up the harassments to keep him from doing anything that might have been beneficial to the American people, rather than their own pockets. I am a little worried though. I know the one thing that hinders the criminals in charge from a complete takeover of the country, is that the American people are armed. This is why the liberals were doing everything possible to get rid of the Second Amendment. Some liberals want China to invade the US and disarm the country. Is that why China has become very militaristic these past weeks? Just speculating!
You didn't see Trump's lawyer say "Get the firing squads ready. Pence goes FIRST," ? That's Trumps lawyer talking. The regular MAGA Troopers say things much worse.
This literally has nothing to do with government requiring anything. You still support Obamacare, though..... And no, I'm not asking for anything. I'm pointing out that the law protects folks from this kind of business action. Try reading the law....
Ok, who would do it then, - the boy scouts? You ARE saying there should be a law (enforceable by the government) to punish companies who refuse to sell apps like Parler. Oh, ok, Thanks for letting me know. Is there still a mandate? I don't think do.
So why did the small business owner get sued, and liberals paid for the suit against the small business all the way to the supreme court, not once, but twice? Your lecture is flawed. This isn't China.
Section 230 allows censorship without consequence. Persons can utilize a platform to set up a business and for any arbitrary reason that platform may cancel them without the possibility of legal action. That is wrong and should not stand.
What small business? The baker? IMO they should be able to choose their customers. No clue why you'd even bring that up.
Should the government be able to tell this forum, or Facebook, or Twitter that that MUST allow people to post porn, personal attacks, threats, etc in the name of "free speech". Hell no. Why are you so hell bent of giving the government so much power that they could force companies to do that?
So what? People say dumb stuff everyday. Does anyone actually take any of that seriously or literally? Was there a firing squad assembled at the Capital Building? Here is a nice article on threats on Facebook with links to a study. https://smartframe.io/blog/online-threats-appear-to-be-getting-worse-so-how-has-it-come-to-this/
I didn't see that with the baker who refused to bake a wedding cake for homosexuals who wanted something written on the cake that went against his religious beliefs. Instead he was being harassed with one law suit after another. Sheer evil!
Not any reason. The reasons are spelled out in the TOS that Parler approved when they open their account with AWS.
The government should not provide legal protection for private companies as they have with section 230.
No they didn't. To comply with those rules they'd have to moderate what is published on their site which they didn't.
And I think that is wrong. The bakers should be allowed to refuse. You are a hypocrite since you think that was wrong, while demanding Amazon, Twitter etc should be treated like the baker was treated.
When you threaten to kill people, it is taken seriously. You can try to claim you were just kidding, but usually it wont fly. Why don't you try it at the airport. Go there and scream "BOMB" and when they grab you, you just say "I was kidding he-he-he". See what happens.
If some Democrats seem to be freaking out more than usual, it's because they have dealings in China, and Trump has just increased our relations with Taiwan. It was something that was held back so as not to upset China. The Taiwanese are happy, and the Chinese are furious. Biden will not be able to undo it since there are many from Taiwan here. Good for Trump. He's giving the Democrats some of their own medicine. Right before Obama left the office he had the government steal all of Russia's diplomatic properties. This is something that's unheard of. Obama with Clinton also started the Russiagate lies which kept Trump from bettering relations with Russia. I assume it was to sell arms and increase the profits of the military industrial complex - as well as their pockets. This is why we're in a Cold War today.
Section 230 is a censorship law which allows companies to shut down other companies arbitrarily. Bokhari, Allum. #DELETED (pp. 198-199). Center Street. Kindle Edition.
Red Sox fans want to kill the Yankees every summer. Those are specific TSA laws established after the 9/11/01 tragedy.
Shut down? You mean remove from their platform? Yes. They own the platform, so it is for them to decide.
