An Independent's View of the Perry / Porn Thing

Well I've done some poking around on this thing and here's what I can actually verify:

Perry bought a few thousand bucks worth of stock in a company that distributed movies of every genre - including porn. Hell, I bought stock in a company that I thought provided mostly construction equipment and later found out their most profitible division was defense contracting. I would bet most people who have bought stocks, have had similar experiences, even if they didn't know about it.
So okay. If he knew it was a porn distributor before buying Movie Gallery stock and if he did anything to help them specifically with the Texas law, then there would be a story of major hypocrisy and mild corruption. But neither of those is proven with anything other than innuendo.

So Independents view this with about as much credidibility as the Birther movement. If there's truth to it, some investigative journalist will find the proof.

In the mean time, if you Liberals want to attack the guy, cut the usual smear crap and focus on the issues people care about.
Hint: There are only two of them and they're related.

 

I am a liberal, and I know it is incredibly silly!! I care about his ideas and policy recommendations(or lack thereof), NOT his investment in a company that just happens to distribute porn!! If he invested in a porn company, that would be different. This however, is a complete non-story.

 

I lean left. Porn is legal. Well some porn may not be. You can buy playboy legally if your of age.
So even if Perry did buy stock and did know it was porn, legal porn, who gives a hoot. I personally don't like porn but if it is legal......There are far worse things about Perry that would inhibit me from voting for him.

Your going to find hacks on either side of the isle. I have been tempted to leave this forum because of the childishness that goes on here. Why I haven't yet...must be the kid in me, giggle.
Mostly I just read the OP and a few posts. After that it just becomes tit for tat. Nothing more than calling each other stupid or my Daddy is bigger than yours.

I know what you mean. There was a thread about Obama riding around in a Canadian made bus. I commented that was funny. I also threw in that Obama sucks in so many ways, his bus is not exactly an issue. What happened? Some whackjob named Dan40 comes in calling me a Liberal shill and so on (his definition of Liberal is simple: anyone disagreeing with him). Now as you can tell from my signature, I don't throw the first punch but I did spank until he sounded like he was ready to wet his little panties. It was actually pretty funny but I do prefer intelligent discussion and debate. I don't think other boards are going to be all that different. Just discuss and debate with those capable of it, and ignore or have fun with the Whackjobs.

 

This could just be a subtle way to bring this silly issue up again.

Rick Perry is another GW Bush, maybe even worse. He has been hand picked by the elite to continue to distruction of this country. While the birther movement did become alittle silly, there is some merit there. I would suggest to do your research on Rick Perry and Ron Paul, its like night and day.

It is irritating though. If you dive to their level of convo, your not getting what you were looking for in the convo.

As the OP mentions, you don't always know exactly what you're investing in.

If I remember correctly, it was a Blockbuster type rental company which rented all the normal stuff, but had an adult section... also, I read that the shares were purchased all the way back in 1995.

Slightly questionable on Rick's part?... maybe. Worth making a BFD over? Not really.
