And once again I'm not saying they are justified, but do you think for one second that if America was occupied by say, the Chinese, and we were treated as second class citizens, our rights constantly trampled, that we wouldn't do some damn dirty **** to get revenge and drive them from our lands? I'm sure we would be ****ing brutal. We have the luxury in America to be in a place of far superior power, able to keep our warfare relatively clean and impersonal through high tech warfare. Hamas doesn't have that luxury, so they do what they think will get them an advantage or die trying. I'm not defending it. I think it is disgusting, but no more so than our own actions, and the actions of Israel in the past. Both sides have been unwilling for true compromise, and innocents suffer for it.

Really? Jet bombers blowing up apartment buildings, hospitals, water and electricity distribution, etc? How are civilians supposed to survive? Why does anyone believe that Israel can legitimately claim that all they slaughter are Hamas when they didn't have the intel to know what Hamas was up to?

I don't agree with Hamas tactics or the decades long war on Gaza by Israel. But, to end this, one must consider the basic needs being denied those in Gaza for decades.

Maybe read the earlier posts, and you can see why it is relevant. Where the conversation went, time frame is irrelevant.

Agreed. But, I would point out that Hamas was ready to join the unity government designed by President Abbas - a decision that would pretty much end Hamas. This was at a low point for Hamas.

That failed primarily because of actions by Netanyahu designed to ensure its failure.

Uh, no I didn't, at all. Those posts were not about Hamas-Israel, they were about killing of innocents in warfare in general. I guess you didn't read them very well. At no point did I blame this conflict on Americans.

Israel targets military targets, Hamas puts those military targets in the middle of their civilians. Hamas targets innocent civilians because they are innocent civilians.

As you note NO prominent Muslim groups have condemned this barbarism.

Israel has cut off all food, water, and medicine to all civilians. How is that not targeting them? A slow miserable death rather than a quick painless one. How is that any better than what Hamas did to civilians in Israel?

That's nice. In case you haven't been here long (though I know you have), conversations often drift a bit from the OP, and people usually only point out the drift when things get uncomfortable for them. the truth that there are no good guys in this conflict is uncomfortable, I know.

He threatened even heavier restrictions on Gaza as well as West Bank, stated that no travel between Gaza and West Bank (required for a unified government) would be permitted by any means. There are tax receipts amounting to tens of millions that Israel collects, but is owned Palestine. These payments have been stopped as a tool for influencing or penalizing Palestine. Other countries have cooperated with Israel demands to penalize Palestine. The US is one such country.

Think what it would mean if your congressmen and representatives were not allowed to leave your state. And, no federal officials or congressmen were allowed to visit your state. Plus, your citizens were not allowed travel to other states or countries, had border police surrounding your state to restrict imports and even exports.

Gaza has been seriously choked off for a few decades, leaving its citizens in desperate circumstances.

That's tough, as the rules have frequently changed in terms of exactly what Gazans are allowed or not allowed to do.

    https://www.cnbc.com/2023/10/10/ham... Israel has imposed,largest open-air prison.”

I believe it is all very relevant to the OP. You just do not like my opinion that there is blame on all sides, and that neither side are the good guys. All of that side conversation relates directly with my reasoning as to why both Hamas and Israel are responsible for the ongoing violence.

Not really, the U.S has not engaged in this event, so much of what you posted was irrelevant to the discussion.

Like the Hamas killed only armed combatants? They attacked and demonstrated the rules they were fighting under. Now Israel is going to hold them accountable.

They made their own bed. The proved they were incapable of peaceful coexistence. And they elected Hamas as their governing party. Actions have consequences.

The USA has been a principle actor in supporting and defending Israel's humanitarian atrocities in both Gaza and West Bank.

So, you oppose Hamas killing women and children, but support Israel doing the same. I don't get how you think it is cool for one side to do, but not the other. Killing in reprisal is no more justified than the initial act. One does not justify the other. Thinking like that is why the violence never ceases. There is no moral high ground, just an endless cycle of vengeance.

They are using murder to "punish" murder? Seriously?

There has been NO peaceful coexistence for decades. Israel's actions against Gaza over that period are considered a humanitarian crime by the UN, and Israel's actions ARE considered war throughout that period by international agreement on the definition of war.

Did Israel expect that Gazans would never fight back against Israel's war on them?

The mistake IS that Israel believes it can make constant, daily war on Gaza for DECADES and that Gaza won't ever fight back, even with the truly crappy weapons they have and with the near certainty of the deaths of those combatants.

I don't know of ANY humans that would live under the constant war of Israel and never stand up for themselves in any way they can.

There is no doubt that Israel could level the Gaza Strip to the point that no two bricks are standing atop one another in a vast field of ashes.

What then ? Will that satisfy their lust for revenge? Will that bring about a cessation of hostilities between Israel , Lebanon, Syria , Iran , Jordan and the rest of the Arab and Muslim world ?

In my opinion, no. It will just guarantee more barbaric conflict and more atrocities committed within Israel’s borders both by Israelis and their foreign enemies.

War without end. Only in Israel’s case, all it takes is one loss and they’re gone. But do they invest in a lasting peace ? ……………………………………..
