https://nypost.com/2021/04/07/andrew-giuliani-considers-running-for-new-york-governor/ This is the problem with American politics: Nepotism. 250 years of political nepotism. Who in their right mind would think that a semi pro golfer who was tossed off his golf team in college, who has zero political experience, no professional experience and whose only line on his resume is "reguarly golfs with Trump. Son of ex mayor of NYC" should be taken seriously as a political candidate. His possible opponent, Andrew Cuomo, is also the son of a politician. Though at least he had a lengthy resume before he ran. The Kennedys, the Bushes, Cuomos, Trumps and Giulianis of this world make me want to barf. There is no other country in the world short of third world dictatorships that have this brazen amount of political nepotism. make it stop! People really need to stand up to this
I agree with your premise but what you are describing isn’t nepotism. Nepotism is hiring or favoring your friends or family for positions or promotion — like trump did with his children and donors for example. This is primarily name recognition which goes to the intellect of the average American voter more than it does anything else.
If a communist bartender that has to stand next to Pres Biden to look intelligent can lead then why not Andy G?
Sort of like being a "Kennedy". Until more recently oops, just caught up with . . . Moi Dyslexics believe in Dog Or A Trudeau !
Will Cuomo even be around when that time comes? The Giuliani name might be toast by then depending on the outcome of the Dominion lawsuits. Beyond that, it takes a certain type of person to go into politics which is why we see the same types of people throwing their names in the hat.
Hard to imagine Giuliani’s name isn’t already toast, especially in liberal New York? Strange times for sure.
All he said was he's considering running for gov and look how your hair caught on fire. You might be more concerned with the people who never had a job other than in government, people like Schumer, Sanders, Biden and Pelosi. At least AOC was a highly qualified barmaid before running for office.
Our VP slept her way into politics with old married men and called her running mate a racist. Everything is upside down.
She’ll just say “it was politics” then cackle because she already did. Translated...she’s full of ****.
Pretty funny that a thread that is about as non partisan as they come on PF, still manages to turn into a pissing contest. Nepotism (or oligarchy kakistocracy or whatever the term you want to use to for government based on connections and not on meritocracy) is a truly bipartisan problem. I listed prominent nepotists on both sides of the aisle. And let's not forget that until Trump came along, the 2016 election was supposed to pit the wife of an ex president against the brother, and son of two ex presidents (and grandson of a senator). I am not worried that Andrew Giuliani is going to be governor of the 2nd most powerful state in the US (though I was certainly wrong about my confident predictions about Bush in 2000 and Trump in 2016, so what do I know) But the fact that a totally inexperienced, incurious, uneducated, errand boy/golfer would be written about by one of the most powerful media magnates should really be settign everyone's hair on fire. ON BOTH SIDES OF THE AISLE. Today, it's Andrew Giuliani, tomorrow it will be Ivanka Trump, or Sasha Obama, or Prescott Bush. This is just so wrong. Yet in total PF fashion, a majority of the posts are about the other side being worse. Being related to someone should not be a penalty, but you better had be pretty exceptional to past the smell test. You think Andrew Giuliani really got there on his merits? Let's crack down on all these profiteurs
I think we should take 'vote out the incumbent' a step further and vote only for people who have no prior history in politics. And yes I'm being serious. The homeless guy you pass on the street, the one yelling at the wind with his pants on backwards, has more chance of legislating in the interest of the common folk than anyone who is 'electable'.
Andrew Giuliani saying he's interested in running for this or that makes news because of his name. He's not qualified to run for anything. Of course, neither are the democrats that get elected in NYS or NYC.
Obviously. A perfect example of that analogy was seen when an IMBECILE (named Trump), who had less common sense than an average homeless panhandler, managed to get elected. And back to the OP (and Rudy Jr.)--he has Zero Chance of actually winning, and his Candidacy (were it to happen) would be a complete joke.
