ALF/ELF are terrorist groups. They use fear and acts of intimidation to coerce people into accepting their agenda, that is terrorism. They are responsible for arson, bombings (to include letter bombs which did injure people), vandalism, and various forms of harassment.
If they scare the living daylights out of those who run, profit or purchase from puppy mills, they have my support.
Terrorism is terrorism. It's still wrong to use intimidation, fear tactics, and violence to get your way. Now if they wanna declare war then they should man up make that declaration that way when we shoot their ass there isn't concern.
Of course intimidation is wrong. Violence is wrong. Sadly, someone somehow has to speak up for those who can't speak for themselves, and protect them from cruel and evil people. Many cities have full time animal protection law enforcement who have the authority to arrest and cite people for abuse and neglect and to seize animals from abusive owners. They are a branch of animal control in most cities. They handle dog and **** fighting rings, and other large scale animal abuse crimes, as well as abandoned pets and pet abuse...

Animal mistreatment is the modern day form of racism, oppression, and biggotry. We might not want to stop eating animals, but they should at least get decent treatment.
Really? What do you define violence as? All individuals who act in the name of ALF do not use violence towards any living being. Rather, they destroy the tools of the oppressor. Now which is violent to you: the being causing other beings physical violence, or the one who is destroying the tools of the oppressor?
