Any Doctor Who fans? Because I'd like to rant a little.

I'm not getting Clara. Is the writers? Is it Jenna Louise Coleman? Because I'm not feeling the love...

I gave up on modern Dr. Who after a couple of episodes. I'll just stick with Tom Baker.

I liked Eckkleson or whatever his name was. The new Doctor not so much although I just started season 5 and Amy is (*)(*)(*)(*)ing hot as all hell. They could just have episodes of her standing against a wall and I would watch the entire thing regardless of whether daleks or cybermen showed up.

Maybe it's because there is a big mystery surrounding who or what she is. She's not a typical companion; a semi-attractive Earth shop girl who is otherwise a typical, if resourceful, female.

And of course she's no Pond. Those legs just kept going...

I'm thinking this is one reason the new Who doesn't impress me much. If I want to stare at pretty women, I have Google for that. I like my sci fi to focus on sci fi.

I'm not so sure if the problem is the character (I think the actress is able to play the character properly) or the writers' somehow focusing too much on the back story or the story arc or whatever they call it now. The next episode is apparently going to bring in Riversong again. Okay I like the character but I think the interweaving of clues about what might really be going on with those characters and the Doc is getting in the way of a good burst of sci fi.

I bought into Rose, Donna not so much..couldn't figure that one out, Martha and of course Amy (with the Centurion...heheh), but there just doesn't seem to be that spark between Clara and the Doctor, it's like she's an accessory and not a companion. I think Matt Smith is trying but I just don;t see it from Jenna.

Maybe they're writing it that way. Maybe it's a big mystery that will get solved this Saturday. But i don't feel the same way about Clara as a companion as I did the others. I'm not even sure I like her.

Which episodes? IMO the story arc beginning with Amy was one of the greatest in SciFi TV history. Throw in Rory and River and it was a great ten episodes or so.

What did you think of David Tennant? Eccleson was kind of a back street guy you'd go to the pub with for a few pints and a game. Tennant was more of a James Bondy kind of character, slick, suave, women loved him. Smith is more of Tom Hanks kind of guy. not necessarily a ladies man but someone you trust.

BTW, Amelia Pond is the bomb. When the killed her and Rory off I cried. Damn.

But then, space and time...who knows if she may come back sometime. River is in this Sat episode.

Coleman is the bomb too, but she isn't Amy. I remember the second episode after they introduced her and Smith, the one with the Star Whale and Spaceship UK. She sealed the deal then and everyone knew there was a special bond between her and the Doctor and that the Doctor would always love her.

I am sorry I meant Tennant. Eccleson was the first season if I recall. Tennant was my favority so far. :p

I think Smith is the problem, and the writers seem to have gotten really lazy lately. Oh we wrote ourselves into a corner......Lets reset the universe.........again

Obviously he feels there is something wrong with Clara, he's just not getting close. Reminds me a little of the Donna arc...who wants to hang a round a (*)(*)(*)(*)(*)y, snarky women who reminds you of your ex?

I warmed to Donna as the series moved on. I really hated her in runaway bride, but they jigged the character a little and I could at least put up with her.

I did too, the episode where she has a husband and children and the one where she becomes time lordy

    Unfortunately, too little too late.

BTW - She's good in "The Office", if underused. I think she is basically a comedienne, hard to put her in a drama eve if it is at times a melodrama.

At least she's working, Karen is till shlepping around Hollywood looking for role.

sorry, the new doctor who series is complete trash, and the futuristic technology has become implausible and just plain ridiculous, to the point that it becomes very difficult to relate to the story.

they had better plots, and better writers long ago.

Clara is supposed to be mysterious. She has already died in two previous episodes. She died in an episode of the 2012 series called "Asylum of the Daleks" in which she crash lands on a prison planet for insane Daleks. From inside her crashed ship she communicates with the Doctor, Amy and Rory, who have also arrived on the planet, and helps them to escape the godforsaken planet. It's only at the end of the show that we realise that Clara IS as Dalek - she had been converted into a Dalek cyborg at some point after crash landing and that she has subsquently retreated into a fantasy world in which she thinks she is still human and inside her crashed spaceship, even though the "spaceship" is now the outer shell of the Dalek.

Clara's other death came in the 2012 Christmas Day special, "The Snowmen", in which evil snowmen try to destroy Earth in Victorian England. Clara, a governess, follows the Doctor after he saves her from an attack by the snowmen, and is invited to travel with him after she enters the TARDIS, his time and space machine. Shortly later, however, Clara falls to her death after being attacked.

Even the Doctor doesn't know her true nature. Some fans are speculating that she may actually be the TARDIS itself (or some part of it) or may be a fellow Time Lord of the Doctor.

Here is a list of ten theories - http://www.geeknative.com/36072/doctor-who-10-theories-about-clara-oswald/

I'm looking forward to the last episode in the series tonight, "The Name of the Doctor". The Doctor reveals a secret. Are we really going to find out tonight what the Doctor's name is?

I'm not sure about the writers, but every time I see Smith, I miss Tennant and even Eccleston just a bit more.

Ah well, at least Ecc is gonna be in the next Thor movie.

It's supposed to be campy, that's part of the charm.

    Seriously, Dalek's?

Late to the post but...I love Clara/Jenna Louise Coleman. I love that she plays innocent so well and I love the chemistry between her and Matt Smith. What I am mad at is that MY adorably cute Doctor (played by Matt Smith) is leaving and there is going to be a new one! :( So even though I love Clara...I probably won't be watching Dr. Who after this last season because...No Matt Smith: No me as a viewer. :(

I have been having my wake for Matt Smith for the last 2 months. I still haven't gotten over them killing Amy and Rory. Seriously, who is making these decisions.

But as with Eccl and Tennant, eventually I'll move on. But I won't go willingly. And if the new Doctor sux, I won't watch it either.

I didn't think any new Doctor could supercede Tennant, but Smith and Amy had me at "fishsticks and custard".

    Amy's "kissogram" sealed the deal.

They didn't kill Amy and Rory, they allowed them to live to a ripe old age in that house.
    Maybe they wanted more money.
