This is getting ridiculous. Are we going to just stop teaching about the civil war next??? Ultimate General Gettysburg is one of my favorite games on my iPad. There is absolutely nothing racist or offensive in the game. Just a recreation of the Battle of Gettysburg. PC people are absolutely destroying this great nation and its heritage, and they should be ashamed of themselves.

The Civil War happened. These strategy games arent selling the Flags they are selling a fun, strategic gameplay experience which is drawn from our History.

Apple is apparently banning the Civil War, which is just stupid.


This is what happens when you just ban something, as a kneejerk reaction without any real thought behind it. Example, you can still buy Wolfenstein for your iPad. putting the flag on the capital lawn was over-reacting and that one is a gov building, not private land

private companies can do whatever they want, sell the flag, don't sell it, their choice

my guess, they wont ban games, they will ban apps that actually only purpose it to show the flag

this is the risk you take when you force something that includes hate on the people via gov, sometimes they over-react and take away more then just the over-reach that started it all, people had to fight tooth and nail to get the gov to do the right thing, that just made people dislike the flag even more

They dont really care, they're just trying to look like they do. The proof is in Wolfenstein with full Nazi Symbolism intact.

Maybe if someone wears an armband on the next killing spree....Apple will take a courageous stance on that one too.

I actually agree with it not being on the Capital building. I dont think any flags other than the State Flags, or Old Glory should be flying there....but I dont live there so wont lose much sleep over it.

 

Nope, they banned the game. I just tried to find it and it is gone. Luckily I already have it on my iPad. Of course I know it is their business what they sell, but as Rich said, Apple is jumping on the bandwagon of progressive extremism. I can't understand why people are so desperate to erase our past.

the happy medium ground is, you can own it for private use, but the gov can not endorse and fly it on gov land

I love these kind of war games, hate to see such a useless, stupid move. Absolutely NOONE was ever going to complain that Apple was selling this, and it accomplishes nothing except punishing a company that made a game based on History.

 

Conservative extremism? The guy is a nut. the only thing he had to do with conservatism is what the left has decided to say he does. No conservatives have endorsed what he said or did. I guess you're forgetting that the Democrats are the party of racism. They're the party that fought against civil rights. They're also they party that, just like before the civil war, is trying to impose their will on everyone.

How is honoring the ancestors of so many southerners conservative extremism? Just because white supremacists used the symbol does not mean that the confederate flag should be removed. The same groups likely fly the US flag as well. This is just someone's crazy political agenda that has taken on a life of its own. Actions like this are destroying race relations, not fixing them. You can't eliminate symbols that are so sacred to some and expect everyone to just accept it as the right thing to do. That is not fixing anything.

 

Learn a little more history before reacting. The flag was not a symbol of racism. Idiots co-opted it. If some nuts started worshiping the U.S. flag would you want it removed? How about if some nutty cult that thinks gays are aliens bent on destroying the world, decided to take a Rainbow flag and make it their symbol? Would the intended purpose of the flag be more important than some wacky dudes interpretation of it?

 

While I can understand the desire to remove the flag from prominent positions today, removing games that depict the civil war is shortsighted in the extreme. You can't make bad history disappear, so by whitewashing (heh) it from history, you do a disservice to those who fought and died.

 

Apple is not a school or an elected office. They can do and say whatever the hell they want. This is not at all analogous to not teaching about the civil war in school.

That being said...this is why I don't like closed systems in general, or Apple in particular. This is why you should have an Android phone.

 

Id like to see the Democrat party banned, they're the ones responsible for southern slavery policies and then see retailers ban all communist and socialist flags, symbols, images and material for its crimes against humanity. Throw is Israel's flag for their apartheid.

 

I totally agree that they can do whatever they want. I just find it sad that so many are so willing to react like this.

 

Have to agree, they have every right and are simply acting to protect their turnover/ profits. The problem for right wingers is they have no counter, the dont boycott, squeal and create negative press for companies like the left do. Companies only need to keep the left quite/ happy the RW will simply continue shopping anyway. That said in Australia there has been some success in pressuring companies to remove halal certification. Until they counter with their money, it'll only get worse, much worse.

regardless of that though, it never should of been a permanent fixture on the capital lawn, nor should the gay pride flag or any other flag other then the state\American flag.. especial not the flag of a losing force that attacked America

Teaching the Civil War from the Confederate perspective should be stopped. It's a lie, starting with the South's naming of the war.

 

ummmm, the british would have said the same thing if they had won he revolution. It was not a lie. It is a matter of perspective. Very few things in history are as black and white as you seem to think they are.

 

it only meets perspective requirements when it's from their view.

The left consistently preaches about tolerance and all, but always decry anyone who doesn't share theirs.
