Are all nations younger brothers of Americans and Germans? everyone is learning English dollar and euro are the main currencies nato is the main defense alliance
Nobody cares about learning German anymore (not even Germans, many of whom display a strange hatred for their own country). Everybody learns English because English-speakers were the "winners" of World War II, and because of that, and the fact that for many years nearly all technological advancements were made by English speakers, it is still a very important language to know. English is also the language of business, mostly because of the WWII thing, and, because American corporations spread their presence all over the world more than ever following the fall of the Soviet Union in 1991. Today? In America it is becoming very handy to be able to have at least a minimal competence in understanding and reading Spanish! Spanish is relatively easy for English speakers to learn because of the roots both languages have in Latin. Try doing this sometime -- go to a news website that's in Spanish and see just how much you, as an English speaker, can at least 'figure out', even if you have no familiarity with the Spanish language at all. You'll probably be surprised!
1 Germans do not impose their language 2 Russians impose their language on Ukrainians 3 Americans will impose their language on the world again if French becomes the world language again?
