Christmas is getting nearer and nearer. This Sunday will be the First Advent Sunday, traditionally the date, when Christmas Markets are opening. Are there any Christmas Markets in the places where you live? Or rather: Will there be from the 27th of November 2022 on?
Interesting. Surprisingly not a big cultural thing in my state in the US despite having quite a large German ancestry here.
As it happens: This morning I am reading in our local paper that the Christmas Market in town has been officicially declared open yesterday. I am sure that I will go there sometime these days.
not sure what that is, businesses here are promoting the holidays as always, is this like a farmers market?
Probably even less than from the "Christkindelsmärik". The Christmas Market in Strasbourg is named Christkindelsmärik. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christkindelsmärik,_Strasbourg Christkindelsmärik is exactly the same word as on the other side of the River Rhine in my home region.
What’s Christmas Market? I take it that it is a special Market. But most store around me have been selling Christmas items for at least a month or more. I’d have to answer no since no market is set up for Christmas here outside of the normal stores selling Christmas things.
The Christmas Market here has officially opened. Some call it a Holiday Market. It's kind of specialized areas around town offering a 'Farmer's Market' type of atmosphere, along with Winter events, caroling, I think there is even a Living Crèche.
@ Christmas Markets Today now I plan to visit the Christmas Market here in town. A première for me in 2022.
