The New York Governor has said that health workers will be fired unless they are vaccinated, saying that people who have been vaccinated "deserve to know that the people they're working with will not get them sick." https://www.governor.ny.gov/news/vi...hul-announces-covid-19-booster-doses-eligible

So the question arises: As it stands, is there a single SHRED of evidence that the vaccine prevents transmission? I sure as hell cannot find any.

There is abundant evidence that it does not. Getting vaccinated protects YOU by helping ensure that you do not get a case that leaves you with damaged organs, and even a "mild" breakthrough infection may be as sick as you have ever been, worse than the worse flu you have ever had.

VAXX protects YOU, not the people around you, you still need to distance especially if you have comorbidities.

Not really, the next train wreck headed down the track is, over vaxxing, it's already happening to folks taking a immune booster even though they may already be immune from previous "Light infection of COVID"

The vax protects you from death and serious illness, it also protects other vaxxed people.

Those who don't want to get vaccinated for philosophical reasons aren't going to care if they die from walking near you. If we're talking about those who can't get the vaccine for medical reasons we're now debating some of the most drastic measures for the benefit of a tiny minority who are eventually going to have to isolate themselves.

Unless we are talking about indefinite measures. Which we might be, I don't even know at this point.

No, the vaccine does not prevent transmission 100%. However, even with the delta variant, it likely reduces the infective period and lead to significantly less transmission. Here is the citation:

    https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/science/science-briefs/fully-vaccinated-people.html

"For the Delta variant, early data indicate vaccinated and unvaccinated persons infected with Delta have similar levels of viral RNA and culturable virus detected, indicating that some vaccinated people infected with the Delta variant of SARS-CoV-2 may be able to transmit the virus to others.(163, 164, 177-180) However, other studies have shown a more rapid decline in viral RNA and culturable virus in fully vaccinated people (96, 177, 180-182). One study observed that Delta infection in fully vaccinated persons was associated with significantly less transmission to contacts than persons who were unvaccinated or partially vaccinated.(181)"

It's like Small Pox, the vaccine didn't prevent the transmission it prevented the replication of the disease which then eventually eliminated the transmission. If enough people are inoculated only the small amounts in peoples respiratory systems will exist because once in most bloodstreams the anti-bodies kill it. Eventually those little bits also fade away. Just like Small Pox.

Would you add to your list that unvaccinated people are a risk to the vaccinated?

False premise. That is not the claim of vaccinations. Think of them as working in the same manner as birth control. It vastly reduces the odds of contracting the virus the vaccination is meant for, but it cannot guarantee that it will prevent it. Furthermore, vaccines have been shown to reduce the severity and duration of a disease when it is contracted. Whenever a politician makes a claim that a vax prevents, they are pandering. But they are a politician, so you should expect that.

What's the evidence that the vaccines vastly reduce the odds of contracting COVID?

Before vaccines came out, the hope(even if it was misguided) was that it would give us immunity, because some vaccines do like the ones we get as children.

But that's not and was never going to be the case with a mutating virus like COVID.

So in reality, anybody who played up the chance of us being immune because of vaccines was dumb and anybody still harping on about it as if they're shocked that they didn't are also dumb.

The common denominator is there is a lot of dumb coming from every direction and one must pick and choose using the meat in their head instead of the meme on their screen.

BWAHAHAHA.....You could bring home EVERY service person on the planet and use them to go door to door, backed by Abram's in the streets and Apache's overhead to FORCIBLY inject EVERY man, woman, and child in the country.....think it's all back to "normal" then? WRONG! BWAHAHAHA....Covid is the greatest gift to hack politicians since the invention of taxation! ANYTHING they cannot do, have no desire to do, and more importantly WISH to do that might upset the masses and cost them a vote it's simply "Well, it's due to Covid, you know?" and the quivering population falls in line like pizz ants on the march to a picnic. REMEMBER 2019...that way of life is as dead as the Dodos, BUT, you'll have stories of those bygone days to tell your hazmat suited great-grandchildren.

The number of contracted cases between the immunized and the unvaccinated. There are less cases of contracting COVID where the person was immunized and large amounts of cases where the person was not vaccinated. Gabriele "Fluffy" Iglesias (I'm sure I've screwed up that spelling) was vaccinated and still got COVID. However, his case was mild and short lived, as is usually (but not always) the case for those who have received the vaccine. So as noted, the vaccine is not a guarentee. But it is an odds improver.

Immunity doesn't just mean protection from symptomatic infection does it? It also includes asymptomatic infection?

There are no federal vaccine mandates. If you don't want to get vaccinated, and you work in a company of >100 employees, you can opt out of vaccination by getting tested weekly. Therefore, you have a choice.

In any case, as to your original post, ask yourself this question: If you were to go on a 10 h transatlantic flight in a packed airplane, would you rather sit next to a vaccinated or unvaccinated person? This should answer your question.

My guess, the anti-vaxxers would say that they don't care whether the person next to them on the flight is vaccinated or not, but if their neighbor would start sneezing and coughing all over the place and look pale, they'd quickly run to the flight attendant and beg for another seat.

I got the vaccination. I also predicted some time ago that there would be an increase in the cases among the unvaccinated for the simple reason that there would be vaccinated people unknowingly spreading the virus.

However, for the vaccinated, there is a way to stop the spread. Get tested. I have been tested a total of six times. All negative. The first time was when the tests were first developed and they had drive through testing. Now is it is nearly impossible to get tested by a health facility unless you have symptoms. I was tested two more times when I went to the doctor with a cough.

I did three self tests because of travel and possible exposure to the virus. You can buy these self test kits at Walgreens and CVS and likely at many other locations. My self testing has been with a kit by BinaxNOW. There are two test kits in the package. I cannot remember the exact cost, but it was around $25. The self test kits are not as reliable as those tests at a health facility. However, the BinoxNOW has very few false negatives. That means that if you test negative, you are likely negative.

Of course. No vaccine prevents transmission. The thing it does and the only thing it does is cause the immune system to develop antibodies for an infection it hasn't encountered. There is no such thing as a vaccine that prevents transmission. It helps fight the "war" between the creation of antibodies and the reproduction of the virus. A vaccine is a head start, nothing more. The only way to prevent transmission is to stay away from infected people.
