I’m the Spirit of 1776 — the spirit of independence, individual liberty and personal responsibility.

You know me. I’ve been part of this grand adventure from the beginning.

I was there with the earliest settlers — the Pilgrims and Puritans, the Quakers in Pennsylvania and the Catholics in Maryland — with all who came to escape the oppression of the Old World, where you could rise no higher than your father, and build a Shining City on a Hill.

I brought the Bible here as a guide and an inspiration.

I encouraged the colonists who revolted against British rule and the Founding Fathers who penned the immortal words of the Declaration of Independence and later formed a more perfect union.

In the winter of ’76, after a string of disastrous defeats, I trudged through the snow with the Continental Army, in shoes wrapped in rags, leaving bloody footprints behind. When Washington crossed the Delaware, I was in the first boat.

In what’s been called our second war of independence, I inspired Old Hickory at the Battle of New Orleans….

we are a shining city on a hill. An exceptional American nation. We celebrate 247 years of 1776 Independence. Tomorrow is our Independence Day! Let’s celebrate!

 

What an awesome country we celebrate! America! Land of the free, home of the brave. One nation, under God, indivisible with Liberty and Justice for all. I’m going this evening to be among 20,000 or so at our county fair grounds for a country concert and a fireworks show. Then tomorrow Whiskeytown lake, a barbecue, a Colt 45’s baseball game, and then join 40,000 in places all around Redding for Freedom Fest 2023, music and fireworks. Still true to the Red White and Blue.

America, 1776 exceptional America will survive. People who think America First and want to Make America Great Again again will see to it.

 

If America is a shining city on the hill, then there is no making great to be doing.

Making America Great Again is all about restoring the bright beacon. America will not and can not be as great as we could be for as long as Joe Biden is our President.

I wish you would allow all Americans to participate in this exceptional experience.

 

There is no revolutionary spirit is reverting to the status quo of yesteryear.

 

No one is stopping anyone. Unless you believe that America as founded and made into a more perfect union is an exceptional nation, there is no way that you could or even would want a part of said exceptional experience.

 

Americans are free to do so if they so decide. There were a few radicals who are calling for people to celebrate June Teenth but not the Fourth of July.

 

Who can’t participate? Right now, today, people from all over the world are paying coyotes and risking their lives trying to come here so they can participate and improve our economy and lower our crime rate. At least that’s what we’re told.

 

I remember that. That’s why certain blue cities that had fireworks last month for pride events are banning them tomorrow for “environmental” reasons. That’s why in California tomorrow my small city in Redding, Ca will be having one of if not the biggest fireworks displays in the state of California. With nearly as large a display in near by Anderson tonight.

 

@Steve N i know 2 groups who think our bipartisan immigration policy is great : the "job creators" who love cheap immigrant labor and the "coyotes" who collect the cash.

 

Wow! What a show. First the fairgrounds, dinner, just like the recent actual fair without the exhibit halls and rides. On one side was a country concert and at the grandstands, auto racing. Both events ended at 9:30 and the fire works were at 10:00. They were spectacular. Between the people in the fairgrounds and those on city streets in the area about 20,000 attended the fireworks. A beautiful red county celebration of America. I’m proud to be an American.

I believe in todays youth.

I don’t believe that demeaning my countrymen is the path forward to maintain American Greatness.

Finding fault with OUR fundamental, foundational institutions to obscure personal crimes and create a false narrative of OUR Great Nation for self interest is tantamount to treason on top of treason.

The part about “Liberty and Justice for All”, means ALL.

After visiting about thirty countries on five continents plus a few islands in the Pacific, I can't think of a single place I would rather live. Other than the effects of the economy on my retirement income, I have no complaints.

I will likely celebrate The Fourth with a little noise made by a little target practice in my back yard.

Life is good in this red woods.

Division in our country fed by politicians, "news" sources, rumors and lies, led by fears and the need to blame others is not the spirit that should be celebrated today.I don't recall where "culture wars" have ever been a good thing for this nation.
For one day I propose we drop all of that foolishness and celebrate together the bounty we have, the achievements we have made, and the fact that we are all God's children.

Happy 4th of July / Independence Day!

 

Todays youth, particularly the 18 and under demographic is becoming more conservative even socially conservative. The more home, charter, and private schools that have come along and the rise of parental rights in the public schools has been beginning to turn our young away from progressive ideas and to conservative ones.

 

It really doesn’t matter which way they lean. What’s important is they understand what a blessed and wonderful country they were born into. And, that they have respect for each other and, are willing to work together to perpetuate “the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves themselves and our their Posterity”.

 

That’s just it. Too many in the 20-29 age demographic largely missed out on that by progressive design as they have no such feelings for our country. Covid ironically was the trigger for the change. The overall lockdowns, the extended school shutdowns, students and parents seeing things from a new perspective, the rise of home and private schools that stayed open, the parental rights movement largely triggered by their watch their kids distance learning in the home…

 

Every generation of elders thinks the youth of they day are misguided, lazy, unpatriotic and, essentially, a hopeless mess. And, yet, here we are; recovering strongly, from a crippling pandemic, at full employment with the strongest economy in the world ... on the 247th anniversary of the founding of our wonderful country and it's government. I have no doubt my grandchildren's generation are going to make us proud.

 

Happy 4th of July America. Let’s put America First and be proud of our exceptional America! Enjoy the overt displays of patriotism, old glory, and red, white, and blue clothing at our fireworks shows all across America.
