Guess which dogs? http://www.foxnews.com/us/2018/02/2...woman-22-mauled-to-death-by-her-own-dogs.html People say the dogs were "normal" and had a strong bond with her. You know, until, they ate her face and ripped her apart. I know the pitbull lovers will argue that the victim was the problem, but for the life of me I don't understand how you leave these animals with kids.
As I lay here with my wife and our sons rednose pit Monet. That said, Monet has never been abused or even spent the night outside, much less in the cold.
Why should we be racist to dogs? They're all the same species aren't they? I say it's all social conditioning. We just need to send these dogs to obedience school to teach them that doing that is not ok.
I'm fairly terrified of them. Then I was thinking about my cat. He's gone, but I used to awaken with him on my chest and his nose in my face as close as touching. I wondered what the hell he was thinking. I would shoo him away and tell him he knows better. Sure he understood. Someone told me they will eat you if you die and they are hungry and can't get out. I looked it up and realized it is possible. I thought it wasn't so bad a fate. I would go out being food for my beloved cat, rather than ashes or a rotting corpse inside a box buried deep in the ground. I never wanted to be killed by him and no one really knows what an animal will do. Maybe most won't, but no one knows what they are thinking. If that breed is unable to be trusted, it needs to be limited to folks who can handle it for whatever job it might be good doing. It is not a family dog, a companion dog, or a good watch dog. They are too wild and way too strong for most folks. They are unpredictable. I know folks love them, but they are at great risk in doing so. I do not believe they should be allowed as pets or anywhere in the general population. Sorry, that seems like the prudent position to take. Humans are and must be more important than animals. There are other breeds I feel similarly about.
my son's mother has had at least a dozen pits...has four or five currently. Loves them more than her horses, which she loves more than humans. hers are really intelligent, loving and expressive, and seem to want to please...they are protective, territorial, and 'packish', though.
Except the vast majority of them are perfectly safe. The only good opinion is an actually informed opinion. Try again.
Monet is loved and loving. She acts like a little kid. However, if you are a stranger, I pity the fool.
They're all safe until they strike, and when they do you'll be lucky to survive. The irony here is that you actually believe you have an 'informed opinion'. Maybe you'll remember typing that one day whilst your 'pittie' is tearing lumps out of your face - or some kid's face?
To be honest, nothing gives me more pleasure than reading yet another case of a 'pittie' having attacked its owner. It always reminds me of the stupidity of humankind.
This is why people have pitbulls, because they want to be tough guys. Can't you take care of yourself w/o having a terrifying attack dog by your side at all times? And how foolish is it to have one that turns on its owners w/o any discernable motive? I pity you.
From the link " the dogs were social, passive and had a “significant bond” with the woman." If you have kids I don't envy them having a parent like you.
Bombs are nice and quiet and don't go off until they are set off. A pitbull is like a bomb: all set to go off and does w/o notice when it is triggered--problem is, no one seems to know what triggers it. And when it does go off, it is deadly.
Dogs have traits in them that are set in their dispositions, DNA it seems, that linger for generations and generations without training for or against it. We had a sheepdog mutt when I was growing up. When the chickens got out of the chicken coop, he herded them back in. Never had one iota of training to do so and wasn't even full blood sheep dog.
If there's one thing I've learned in my life, and it's that you can never rationalise with a doggy person.
Not any dog. Most pets do not turn on their owners. If you want to make that claim, how about some evidence? You can't just make a wild unsupported claim in a debate and expect it to be accepted. There are many examples of pitbulls turning on their owners. How many examples of other breeds turning on their owners can you come up with? Also, when a pitbull attacks, they don't stop. It is something in their DNA. Other dogs can be pulled off or made to stop. There have been many accounts of police officers having to shoot and kill a pitbull to get it off someone. Pitbulls were trained from the beginning of the breed to hang on no matter what, and they have extremely strong jaws that lock on to the target.
Once they go into attack mode, which can be at any given moment, they enter a state of frenzied blood lust and there is no way of stopping them.
I love dogs and fostered for Sheltie rescue, but there are dogs I just don't trust. Pits and Chows the main two. My stepson had a Pit that came around once in awhile, although he seemed friendly enough, I just didn't trust him, especially feeling how powerful he was.
