You are not understanding what normalcy bias is. Even the definition you gave is not indicative of panic buying. It's the EXACT opposite. Catastrophic thinking is where panic buying occurs.

It's going to be Biden this and Biden that until the election. Most will be wrong, some of it won't even make sense, they won't care in the slightest.

It really depends on facts and circumstances for prepping. Yes prepping should occur, but not the end of the world type prepping when the SHTF scenarios that I read and listen to from time to time. Those that live in the coastal regions for instance should prep for hurricanes, which should be done yearly for gas, food for a week or two, camping supplies for a week or two; and nothing much else. Those that live in the midwest and southeast should prep for tornadoes and severe thunderstorms with a week or two of food, a generator with fuel for that generator, candles, etc. But the problem nowadays is that prepping is a business and one of the most common tactics is to use the "doom and gloom" scenarios to try and sell as much stuff as possible and as quickly as possible without considering those facts and circumstances. Hence why people are so reluctant now.

The political blame game has been going on for over two decades with each presidential election getting worse and worse on the illogical arguments by one party or the other.

The problem with Biden though is that most people vote with their wallets. And inflation, like Covid for Trump, will harm one party more than the other; yet the other party has no idea how to combat inflation either. Just do the blame game with no real solutions.

Only the Federal Reserve can raise interest rates. That is not in the purview of Congress.

No one in Congress is going to yell "raise the interest rates so we can solve inflation" because FoxBusiness and other business outlets would be doing the doom and gloom of how expensive new homes, commercial buildings, credit cards, etc will be.

Personally, the FED should contract the money supply instead of raising interest rates. It worked in the 1980s under Reagan and it will work now.

Raising rates won't fight exogenous inflation, but it will slam the economy.

Members of congress are already yelling to raise interest rates.

Raising interest rates is how you contract the money supply.

I don't want to fight inflation in other countries. Slamming the economy is the price to be paid to end inflation.

Not really. The FED can contract the money supply by increasing the reserve requirements without raising interest rates. Raise the reserve requirements and money supply would be reduced, along with availability of credit.
