Nope we MADE money off of TARP. All TARP was were brief bridge loans and was paid back WITH INTEREST and before the vast majority were due.

"On December 19, 2014, the U.S. Treasury sold its remaining holdings of Ally Financial, essentially ending the program. Through the Treasury, the US Government actually booked $15.3 billion in profit, as it earned $441.7 billion on the $426.4 billion invested.[2][3]"

So it was even enough to cover the $9 billion that was lost with the American auto companies.

And it would have made more were it not for the changes and manipulations Obama and Biden did to it and Freddie and Fannie actually having to be bailed out.

Now you know and should no longer call it a subsidy or a bailout which it wasn't to begin with.

Why do you object federal welfare to poor blacks?

We don’t complain about higher taxes. We just don’t need people who don’t pay taxes to tell us how to spend our taxes.

Mississippi took $59 billion dollars from federal government to , out of that only 1.2 billion goes to SNAP. Rest of the 58 billion Mississippi takes goes to keep the lights on the street and pay police and firefighters because Mississippi can’t raise enough taxes.

Don't flatter yourself. We pay taxes. We do have the right to say how they should use our taxes.

If blue states are so great, why are people leaving them to move to red states?

May be you are not noticing but many of the Purple state like AZ, CO, NV, NM now are reliable blue state.

On the other hand GA a reliable red state became Purple, TX needs another 500K Liberals from CA , NY and IL to move and then GOP’s dream about WH will end forever.

You should visit some of the big metropolitan cities in RED state like Nashville, Atlanta, Dallas, Raleigh, NC, Charlotte, NC, Phoenix. Those reliable red cities no longer RED. Liberals from NYC moving to these cities, bringing Starbucks, wholefood, gourmet coffee, Sushi Bar, Yoga class and all other fun liberal thing. These liberals are getting involve in local school board, local city council, local LGBTQ community. The white evangelical neighborhood now has LGBTQ flags , and gay community.

Brik by brick, one school library to another school library these liberals changing the way once the great RED cities operated.

That’s why people are moving from Blue state to Red State. I am glad you like that liberals are coming to your neighborhood.

You can find exceptions, but overall the red states are growing faster than blue states.

You mean Florida. I give you that FL became more RED.

Every other state became purple or Blue.

This is the problem with MAGA and Conservative journalist. They take one isolated story / event and think things are changing.

Just in this article the author predict next 20-30 years US electoral college pattern based on one year migration. And there are people who believes those.

Shall we take a look last 24 years pattern?

TX- since 2000 TX moved 8.5% toward liberals/DEMS

    upload_2024-4-22_11-21-54.png
VA- since 2000 NC moved 9.7% toward liberals/DEMS

    upload_2024-4-22_11-22-46.png
AZ- since 2000 AZ moved 4.7% toward liberals/DEMS

    upload_2024-4-22_11-23-34.png
NC- since 2000 NC moved 5.4% toward liberals/DEMS

    upload_2024-4-22_11-23-58.png
    SC- since 2000 NC moved 2.5% liberals/DEMS

    upload_2024-4-22_11-24-28.png

FL is the only state which became more red.

    upload_2024-4-22_11-24-50.png

Does that looks like all the RED state became more RED to you ?

When you get a loan at the bank are they giving away money to you? If you have a complaint it would be aganst Obama who DID give away money to GM and Chrysler and then tried to play boy industrialist and cost us billions in loses.

That is the problem with the left. They take one story which has little to do with what we are talking about and then bend it to fit.

My point was that if the blue states are so great, why are people leaving them? I provided proof that people are leaving blue states more than they are leaving red states. My point had nothing to do with elections.

We don’t want to hurt poor people, that’s why we the DEMS advocate all these programs – SNAP, HeadStart, TANF, Housing, healthcare and other welfare programs. But conservative calls them “ socialism”.

If conservative thinks all these programs are welfare/socialism and vote against these programs , then stop taking money for these programs. we can use our tax money in blue state.

We have no problem anyone use these programs regardless they are DEMS or REPUB, they are in RED state or Blue state. But don't take our hard earn money and then call us socialist for supporting these programs.

You provided a small event after pandemic.

Here is conservative article with such an eye catching headline

The Great Blue to Red State Migration Continues - WSJ

Now lets see what the article is about.

The U.S. population increased by 1.6 million between July 2022 and July 2023, with states in the South accounting for about 1.4 million of the growth. Leading the boom were Texas (473,453), Florida (365,205), Georgia (116,077), South Carolina (90,600) and Tennessee (77,512). Driving their growth was migration from other states.

Eight states saw population declines, with the biggest in New York (-101,984), California (-75,423) and Illinois (-32,826). They can blame population flight. California lost the most residents to other states (-338,371), followed by New York (-216,778), Illinois (-83,839), New Jersey (-44,666), Massachusetts (-39,149) and Maryland (-30,905).

Now let’s see how these migration by percentage.

The state of NY has 19 million residents. 101k resident left between 2022-2023 = 0.53%

The state of CA 39 million resident. 75k resident left between 2022-2023 = 0.19%

The state of IL 12 million resident. 83k resident left between 2022-2023 = 0.78%

You think 0.53/0.19/0.78% people leaving the state means these states are horrible? In conservative mind they are.

Yes, some of these residents leaving because of “Big bad Liberal policies”. But others are moving for other reasons.

My wife and I moved from Chicago to Wisconsin in late 2021. In Summer of 2021 our office announced that a certain department can work from home full-time, and my department was one of them. I called my wife and said “lets move out of Chicago”. She was working from home since Pandemic. We didn’t care about blue state /red state , or blue city or red city or high tax or low tax when we decide to move. What we wanted is a smaller town where we can go for walk, farmers market , can go fishing, kayaking but same time a location which has high speed internet access, close to interstate. I know many people moved with similar reason.

Facts: People are leaving California for red states.
People are leaving NY for red states.
The population is rising more in red states than in blue states.

You denigrated red states and yet people appear to prefer red states and it has nothing to do with the pandemic.

yea people are leaving .. lets buy more moonshine and have party

The state of NY has 19 million residents. 101k resident left between 2022-2023 = 0.53%

The state of CA 39 million resident. 75k resident left between 2022-2023 = 0.19%

The state of IL 12 million resident. 83k resident left between 2022-2023 = 0.78%

i don't have to denigrate the RED state , the number speak for itself

Poorest state by poverty rate in the country – 8 out of top 10 states are RED state,

Lowest GDP per Capita. Again 8 out of 10 are RED state

Went down when they should have been going up.
You said you were paying our electric bills.

I would rather live in poverty in any of those states than live in California or New York.
But they are happier than living in over crowded high cost, high tax, crime infested states. They live here by choice.

And why are liberals fleeing to these red states to begin with? California is the liberal utopia. Why are they moving in droves to Arizona and Texas? I'll tell you why. Liberals are locusts. San Francisco is such a shithole now due to liberal policies, but the idiots that leave and move to a city in a red state bring all their stupid ideas with them. In a few decades that new city is a shithole. Wash, rinse, repeat. Hopefully i'll be dead before these lunatics inevitably run out of cities to destroy

Well, if population growth is the success of a country/ state then Syria is #1 country in the world. Syria’s population grown 6.39% in 2023 and USA population grown 0.68%. South Sudan with 4.78% population growth in 2023 must be best place in the world to live. No one leaving South Sudan.
