From the Economist (and well worth a read): Broadbandits

    Excerpt:

Enough is enough. It like the highway-robbery that was popular during the 19th century as Europeans migrated to the US and poured into the western states.

And if nothing is done about it, it will harm seriously the business that is being done by internet, which is factually enormous given the shift from department-store shopping on to Internet-sites like Amazon.

The above caption shows that the theft is not just the legal kind (like Amazon) but the ransom-based kind documented above. The onus is clearly on those who are responsible for the larger part of the Internet development. Which has come a long long way since Arpanet was first established for researchers to share information causally but quickly.

And that way went much further to become a major promoter of fast-and-easy shopping around the world. Amazon is responsible for the closing of brick-and-mortar stores around the US and Europe, which will NOT reopen with the end of Covid!

But, but, but - there is also an evil part to the Internet Magic, which is what this present article is all about. And if it can happen to large companies, who knows what evolution will bring it to the doorstep of your-home ... !?!
