Let the radical left implement their policies of defunding police, abolishing federal prisons (the squad’s recent proposal), open borders, attempting to take guns away from law abiding citizens, not fighting theft and allowing shoplifters to operate without consequences. I predict cities like san fran will become <Mod Edit> infested with more crime, suffocated by higher taxes. Liberals haven’t yet learned that when you champion criminals, the criminals don’t steal a few things and go home and live peaceful lives. They keep tearing things apart until you actually stop them. Ironically they are much like liberals themselves, and this country is learning the hard way that any appeasement of liberals doesn’t actually make them shut up about anything. It just makes them want more. We gave them gay marriage and now they’re defending transgenders raping girls and taking over women’s sports. It never ends, and indeed just gets worse, as these California cities are finding out for themselves.
What America desperately needs now is for Kallyfornicator to secede from the nation and take all those electoral votes with them. That way, we'll be guaranteed never to have another socialist, Marxist, Communist democrat president again. The change from felony to misdemeanor for shoplifting also occurred in oklahoma by way of a voting option on the ballot. Well meaning people voted for it not understanding about possible consequences. Our attny gen and law enforcement advocated for the change believing it would allow police to focus on larger crimes. What I think is happening however, is the broken window affect...letting small crimes happen encourages large scale crime to grow.
As your source says, this is a more specific problem than you imply. Shoplifting is no longer deterred due to more lenient shoplifting laws and enforcement. It's not about much else. The solution is to improve enforcement of the law, not to become a right winger. how does the $950 threshold work exactly? Seems if i walk into a store and steal less than $950, it's ok. Is it a daily limit? What if i go into 20 stores and steal $900? do i get charged as a felony cause it's 18,000 total? Can i steal multiple times during the week, as long as it's under $900? I have lots of questions. Heck, i may consider a career in shoplifting as i could potentially earn quiet a bit of money a week... just have to make sure every theft is under $950 who here spends $900 on avg when going shopping? mighty generous
