Looks like Cameron played a shrewd card when visiting Obama .
Is there a more shrewd leader in Europe , with most of the others below ground in the cellars counting their fast disappearing reserves ?
Angela seems to have shot her bolt , though I guess this wallflower would have preferred someone shooting their bolt at her .
Can anybody even name another EU State leader , excluding the Belgian Herman Rumpy Pumpy who continues unopposed to hold his title of most boring EU person ever .

The United States cut preferential trade tariffs for Argentina Monday saying Buenos Aires had failed to pay penalties it owes US companies after international tribunal rulings in their favor.
US Trade Representative Ron Kirk said it was removing tariff-free treatment for imports from Argentina because the government had ignored requests to pay $300 million in two arbitration awards dating back to 2005-2006.
"The government of Argentina has not paid the awards, despite repeated requests to do so by the two petitioners and the United States government," said a statement from Kirk's office.
The move withdrew Argentina's inclusion in the US generalized system of preferences (GSP) program, which aims to help developing countries by removing duties on some goods they ship to the United States.

There isn't anybody who can "lead Europe". European countries are too diverse to be lead by a single figure.

Cameron isn't even a very good leader of the UK. How can he possibly lead nearly half a billion people!!!

I didn't hear you disagree a few weeks ago when Angela was promoted to Messiah status .
Or when Sarkozy tried so hard .I trust you are not one of those Socialist types who buckle under pressure .
It is clear that the tandem strength of George and David has Europe a flutter .
Triple A credit rating still intact and shrewd budgeting , successfully walking the dangerous tight rope between too much Austerity and too deep spending cuts .
By sub text through Obama , he rams the Argentinians into touch and cleverly keeps the Syrian problem at arms length whilst periodically getting Willy Hague to remind the Americans and Russians to sort their differences and work together for a common good .
This is a man who has had lessons in walking on water and perhaps returns us to the days when our senior politicians and generals came from the establishments that exist to produce strong leaders and good men .
What was won for Britain on the playing fields of great institutions can perhaps now benefit Europe .History beckons .

Yes, let the desperate duo rule the EU. The headlines today are all about Cameron's Corruption and Dinners for Donors, he and his Darth Maul sidekick Osborne will fit right into the EU upper echelons.

I certainly do . I have seen what goes on in a fair chunk of the remainder .
    We are very lucky .
But I am not blind to what is happening and in the West we have all sunk very badly lately .
The whole lot threatens to go under , regardless of the numbers arguments -- finance and economies .imo

Cameron big society? I wonder what is that mean. Work for free, charities, privatisation of NHS. Not sure Europe can swallow nasty medicine from Cameron.

You are a wonderful diagnostician. There is a tome I recommend to you with heavy heart. It is a difficult read, but has deeply influenced me.

[ame="http://www.amazon.com/From-Dawn-Decadence-Western-Cultural/dp/0060928832"]Amazon.com: From Dawn to Decadence: 500 Years of Western Cultural Life 1500 to the Present (9780060928834): Jacques Barzun: Books[/ame]

You remind me of the Roman Emperor Aurelian. He was able to stabilize a Roman Empire in deep decline after fifty years of drift and civil wars. His actions were palliative, but temporary. Something new is coming. I don't know what it will be.

I am like the Roman Emperor Diocletian who in the final analysis preferred to work in his garden than to stand athwart the bridge.

    Trivia , Viv .
The man they stupidly allowed to get into that position was a moron and probably a fantasy merchant .
I would have never offered him stewardship of tea making , just based on his voice .
The wider issue of party money donors is a serious one . But if people really believe that money buys Tory policy , they are living in cloud cuckoo land and have no knowledge of procedure or the true calibre and worth of the top people involved .
It's very bad for image and trust , and Millipede was in a similar situation only three weeks ago . How short people's memories are .
I know that Cameron is incandescent . This guy , whose name I can't even remember because I am so mad , should be shot -- which is why I play no active role . I would lose him for the right reward .

If by a "socialist type" you mean throwing money at the bone idle and feckless, then no, I'm most definitely not, and I haven't seen any evidence that Cameron or Osborne have "Europe" at all concerned. And we UKIP supporters don't buckle.

You're joking right? State spending has actually gone up, incredible when you consider how much Labour actually spent. It's a miracle that we still have our Triple A rating but it's because commerce succeeds in spite of Cameron and Osborne.

PS I'm with Viv on Cameron and Osborne. I just don't know what will shake the faith of Tory diehards.

This is the third year I have organised a Passion Play in Brighton , using Oberammergau as my inspiration . It is a tribute to my Mother who was a Bavarian and desperately wanted to play Barabbas as retribution for her years as a sneak thief .
Viv and Tamora have been fighting over who gets the part of my wife Mary Magdalene . I wanted an Ethiopian woman for authenticity but was over ruled by Health and Safety .
Let's hope that idiot gets the nails right this time . I still walk with a limp from last year's effort .I hate being called Hoppy Jesus or ignorant people shouting out , Heal Thyself , as that insipid Baptist Preacher did last year.John somebody .
One wrong remark this year and i will be off that cross with my foot up his nose before he can mutter Pilate .

Is the pain of the Tories being almost as bad as Labour too difficult for you to deal with before you've talked to God?

Are you involved with this group?

Good luck with the play either way. :handshake:

Yes , a love of knowledge , culture and an appreciation of History produce strong bonds .
Things which many aspire to , but , unlike Bertie and Raymondo , few achieve .
    Naturally women are excluded .
Servants have their separate jobs to attend to .
Sorry if this sounds a little non PC . But real life is very cruel .

The phenomenom reaches across time and space. It is known as "being on the same wavelength."

Oh btw, can you feel me?

The Con-Dem(ned) coalition has been a disaster for Britain so far.
