    Except most if not all the Indians of Jamaica died out from small pox. That's why they imported Africans in the first place.

    if you get a dna test and it shows your part African American, then yes, that is what you are.. part African American

    But if all humans came from Africa, then aren't all Americans technically African-Americans?

    She is Jamaican-American, and she should embrace it. I mean, they have a bobsled team, after all.

    Well she is a woman and African American and Indian and probably other things but she is not part of any of the LGBTQ or Native American or any of the many other emerging protected communities I can’t keep track of anymore so maybe Biden should have widened his net. Maybe Rupaul would have been a better choice. Identity politics is super tricky and I thought US Dems would be better at it by now as this is their wheelhouse!

    No, the term latino applies to people from latin American countries. Jamaica is not a latin American country. Latino, by the way is a location like Jamaica is. It is not a race.

    Latino is an ethnicity and applies only to males of that ethnicity and I thought race was only a social construct except when used by identity politics that benefit that “race” like affirmative action or BLM.
    Identity politics is tremendously and unnecessarily complicated.

    It is not an ethnicity. Go to Argentina and find a blond blue eyed citizen there and explain to that person that they are latino and not caucasian. In fact they are both. My Cuban mother had blue eyes.

    Yes there is a great deal of miscegenation. In the age of affirmative action and set asides for race, how should those miscegenated be treated legally? Should the US follow Jim Crow laws that treat one eighth non white as not white and if so then where do they land on the ethnic or racial lottery?
