    Cut budget by...
    Spending more on pointless prisons!
Besides that it's phenomenally stupid for punishing minor crimes and will negatively affect the people who commit those crimes for life.
But then again i have a total disregard for law (an unequal authoritarian monopoly) anyways and i've never been caught doing anything.
Is our electorate really this stupid?

Sweet. Bravo Harper!! It's about time Canada got tough on crime.

Now, about the only thing that could make this even sweeter...is if Harper, as the sole person who can appoint the new Supreme Court justices at the mandatory 75 year cap.

Fish, Lebel, Rothstein will hit 75 in a few years. Binnie out at 72 is just gravy and Charron going (at just 60) is the sweet dessert.

And vast of amounts of lower court appointments he will change over the next few years is going to be a thing of beauty.

All in his hands exclusively. A brilliant PM, that has no term limits to his office...and now an inspiring crime bill to be matched by like minded judiciary in the very near future, is just so freaking awesome, and makes me glad Canada had the wisdom to grant Mr. Stephen Harper a majority government.

OFFS, why not just move to the US if you are so in love with their style of justice. Harper is the worst thing to happen to this country, we're all going to regret the idiots that voted him and his right wing cohorts in. Brilliant my ass, the guys an arrogant (*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*).

US style of justice? It's all Canadian, and those are the rules. Stephen is an economist, (and the last time I checked with the exception of Liberal failures in Ontario sitting us akin to a North American version of Greece), Canada is the envy of the world and doing pretty (*)(*)(*)(*) good under Mr. Harpers guidance.

Not sure I can agree that Harper is arrogant, however, if he is I don't care. Great leaders, both bad and good are often arrogant or deemed as arrogant.

I have to agree with CanadianEye on this one.

BC Bud: We are indeed the envy of the planet right now.
Doing something definitive on crime is a GOOD thing...not bad.

Living in Toronto...a displaced Calgarian...I have discussion all the time with more liberally minded people here...and there are allot of 'em here...
They have allot of good points but...I find Canadian Liberals to be a little too far left for my own comfort-level. And while I also find some of the ideas from the Harper government a tad...shall we say...neanderthal...I am still more comfortable with them, as they are more inline with centerist thinking that are the Liberal Party.

Minus this idiotic issue with this prison fiasco, I don't have much to hate him for. Other than the aircraft that we are purchasing from the US, but we all know why hes doing it. I wish he looked for cheaper European variants instead, but I guess that's how it goes living next to America.

harper is an economist? harper has never been an economist, he has never held a real job, other than briefly as mail room boy...when the economic world was coming apart he had no clue what was about to happen, despite all the warnings given....canada is doing reasonably well not because of harper but because the previous liberal government left a surplus and banking regulations that were in place decades before harper formed a government and finally because we have a resource driven economy...

Stephen Harper is a globalist. Who will eventually lead us down the same road as the U.S. He has been handpicked by the Bilderberg group. He doesn't have Canada's best interest at heart. Check out this radio show where I talk with Chrisopher Porter leader of the Canadian Action Party and then I cover a few of Harpers globalist speechs.

Harper would be all right if he wasn't a zionist tool, and dedicated to fighting Israel's wars and bringing more immigrants in to over-run our White nation.

If harper was an economist, why was he the last person in canada to realize we were in a reccession. Oil is the only reason canada is still surviving.
