Trans indigenous Canadian slams doctors for denying her euthanasia request, saying death would be better than her constant pain from a surgically-built vagina , July 28, 2023

"Lois Cardinal, a self-proclaimed 'sterilized First Nations post-op transsexual' said regret over her medical transition led her to apply for a lethal injection in January. Cardinal, who lives on a native reserve near St. Paul, Alberta, posted her medical records from the request online this week"

Experts see Canada's euthanasia laws as threat to disabled, August 11, 2022
"Alan Nichols had a history of depression and other medical issues, but none were life-threatening. Nichols submitted a request to be euthanized and he was killed, despite concerns raised by his family and a nurse practitioner. His application for euthanasia listed only one health condition as the reason for his request to die: hearing loss."

"One third of Canadians are apparently fine with prescribing assisting suicide for no other reason than the fact that the patient is poor or homeless.
Starting in March 2021, Canada became one of only a handful of countries to legalize assisted suicide even in instances where a patient does not have a terminal illness."

18-year-old boy died after doctors tried to create a vagina from part of his colon

"My Man-Made Vagina is Closing Up, Now I need to get it replaced"
in the video the trans person actually tried to use their surgery going wrong as in argument to support the transgenderism by claiming "No one would choose this lifestyle", implying that people must truly be "transgender" to actually go through everything they do.

Sounds like a cautionary tale for people not to mutilate their genitalia.

Certainly not the first to have buyer's remorse

It's pretty common for young people to make stupid decisions, especially those concerning sex and their bodies. This includes 16 year old teenagers, and even those who have recently turned 18.

You are cherry picking negative stories about transgenders to try to normalize the concept that young people are being maimed by transgender surgeries and now you seem to be saying it’s because teenagers are stupid.

    Really.

The following excerpts come from https://transequality.org/blog/get-...transition-related-care-for-transgender-youth

“Any surgical care for teenagers under 18 is rare and individualized. It is carefully examined under the supervision of medical professionals using standardized, evidence-based guidelines. Like everyone, those teenagers deserve the best possible medical care for their well-being. Importantly, young people deserve privacy as they make their own decisions with the support of parents, mental health professionals, and doctors.

    Transition-related care is lifesaving care.
A large body of research demonstrates that trans youth who receive transition-related health care to treat their dysphoria show decreased anxiety, depression, suicidal behavior, and psychological distress, and increased quality of life.

    and

"Regret" about transition is extremely rare.
Feigned concerns about “regret” around medical transition completely fail to see the reality of trans people’s lives. The vast majority of trans people cannot even access the transition-related care they need! The truth is that trans people deserve competent and compassionate health care as they seek to live their best lives – and that very, very few ever regret receiving this care. One Dutch study of nearly 7,000 transgender people found that the rate of regret was less than 1% among those who received treatment as adults – and there were no cases of regret among those who received care before the age of 18.

It’s helpful to put this fearmongering about “regret” into context. Up to 30% of knee replacement patients regret getting surgery – but no one’s trying to ban those!

Research tells us that the overwhelming majority of people who transition medically are satisfied with their decision to do so. Of the very few people who have detransitioned, over 82% did so because of external pressures such as rejection from family, and discrimination in education or employment. Most people also only detransitioned temporarily – likely due to those same pressures from others - before resuming their lives as trans people.”

If one owns one's body, then there should be no anti-euthanasia laws.

Out of how many surgeries across the planet?? Don’t even begin to squeak about America here - you had to find a story from another country to justify this. How many transgender surgeries re done internationally every year? You will be surprised because places like Thailand run specialist clinics one estimate is over 18,000 but that is likely a strong underestimate

LOL and thailand is the home of countless pedos. Great example!

Thailand is a country of origin, destination, and transit for sex trafficking. The sexual exploitation of children in Thailand is a problem. In Thailand, close to 40,000 children under the age of 16 are believed to be in the sex trade, working in clubs, bars, and brothels.

You've shown how correct we are.

Your source has already been regurgitated about a billion times on this forum alone by people just like you who have no idea what the difference is between transgender adults and transgender children so you post that BS over and over thinking the transgender children being maimed somehow have the same results.

the entire point being made is children have no business making life altering medical decisions for themselves. Your BS logic about success rates of adults is just that: BS logic. It has been shot down as the BS it is over and over. It’s about time people like you actually start learning something about how to make an argument

I want to point out that one of the reasons sex change surgery is not seen as a big issue in Thailand is because most of the ordinary people cannot afford it, let alone the younger ones. It's more something foreigners go to the country to get, which helps add desperately needed money into their economy. So they're not going to complain about it for the same reason that Las Vegas doesn't complain about gambling.

The transgenders in Thailand who do get it often have to resort to working in the sex trade for several years to pay for it, and then have to continue working in the sex trade after the operation to pay off their debts. This is why there are so many "lady boys" who trick drunken white tourists into sleeping with them.

It's sad that an entire industry has sprung up masquerading as actual medical care to take advantage of mentally ill people by mutilating their bodies.

These people don't need surgery they need counseling to come to terms to accept who and what they are

It seems you have been misled into believing something that isn’t true. You haven’t refuted anything I quoted with any kind of information.

A child doesn’t just decide to transition and then rapidly change their body irreversibly. For a young child, the option is a social transition involving pronoun changes, name change, and wearing clothes matching gender. Children who haven’t reached puberty can have puberty blockers prescribed which won’t cause any irreversible changes. This is done under medical supervision and with counselling.

If a person starts HRT, this is when some changes are partly irreversible but this is dependent on individual biology, what is being prescribed and length of time. Guidelines by the Endocrine Society say HRT shouldn’t start until age 16 and many hospitals that specialize in gender care won’t prescribe it until age 16.

As far as surgery goes, it is usually not allowed until age 18 and has rules attached to it.

So there are steps from social transition only to hormone blockers to HRT for teens and finally surgery for adults. Not every transgender will undergo a medical transition. These steps are not arbitrary. There has been a diagnosis and treatment is prescribed by a medical professional with the individual consistently affirming their identity. Who knows their identity best? Isn’t it the person making the decisions about their identity.

Obviously surgery is the most permanent change and it’s a choice being made by an 18 year old adult. Surgeries can be done on younger teens occasionally which is mostly top surgery and is not the norm.

There are not thousands of unhappy transgenders out there wishing they hadn’t transitioned. There will always be some. There will be some bad surgical outcomes as in all types of surgeries. And most of all there will be intolerant people who can’t accept that people want to live as a male when born female and vice versa. In fact, some detransition due to the intolerance and bigotry heaped on them by intolerant bigots. Unfortunately, people tend to scour the internet to find stories of unhappy transgenders and bad surgery outcomes and then apply it to the whole transgender population which is BS.

You chastised me for not making a proper argument. I have presented some information. Refute it properly without resorting to a rant filled post devoid of any relevant facts.

You can read guidelines here as a starting point https://academic.oup.com/jcem/article/102/11/3869/4157558

If you understood what logic is you would have read my post and understood that what I was saying was pointing out the fallacy in your argument.

So go back and try again. You simply making a longer winded version of a fallacious argument does not require me to put up sourcing. It merely requires me to be able to think past a 5 year old level of thought.

I initially posted information related to transgender care and regret. Posting information is not exactly arguing is it? I was trying to get beyond the rhetoric posted by those who are intolerant of transgenders. The points were quoted from a reliable source is what you should be refuting as you are angrily claiming it’s ‘BS’.

I then provided you with more facts about the process of transitioning as well as a link to the approved medical guidelines. You are unable to say any of the facts I posted are not true, rather you attack me again so I will assume you are incapable of actually having a mature conversation related to actually discussing facts. Is anything I posted in my last post wrong and if so, please provide some credible links in order to refute it.

What you are presently doing is lashing out with personal opinions and insults and not providing any information. And you accuse me of childish behaviour.

I don't like the way my body looks. Because of this, I am entitled to your insurance premiums to pay a plastic surgeon to alter my appearance. Additionally, I would like to brainwash your children into not liking the way their body looks so that they can also use the resources of other people to have "physicians" alter their appearance (and neuter them). Does that about sum it up? Remove the billion dollar plus profit motive for the medical community and this issue goes away. The critical step is to remove "gender care" from insurance. This is Obama's most poisonous legacy and it has netted the medical community billions at the expense of the people.

    upload_2023-8-19_10-49-47.png

These graphs explain EVERYTHING. A tenfold increase in 6 years. It was sitting at about 0 before Obama forced it into insurance.

you have once again failed to even identify my point, merely reiterating your fallacy.

Here’s another point: hiding behind sourcing to back up a fallacy is still fallacious. And no, I don’t need a source to be able to point that out to you. Just logic. I’m sorry if logic is tough for you to comprehend and use

Since you have nothing to refute, or of value to say, stop wasting my time.

The information I have provided is correct. I have a trans male in my family and he has to put up with intolerance and bigotry all the time. We, as a supportive family, have decided to provide facts as opposed to the ignorant rhetoric voiced by intolerant and ignorant haters.

First, say it with me: “adults are not the same as children therefore we can’t use adult statistics to support a BS idea that children would likewise show the same statistical results”.

Are you even capable of saying adults aren’t the same as children? That children aren’t capable of making adult decisions in life?

no? Then it is you who needs to slink away from where thou came from

its fascinating. This polling data is all about an ill defined term. 'Regret' There are virtually no major changes you ever make without some feelings of 'regret' or doubts, whether its a move to a new city, or a divorce involving children, or a major back surgery, or terminate a pregnancy or are deciding to come out as gay. You lose your job, you will regret that move to the city. You get a great job interview, you won't. Your kids are sobbing about missing their Mom, you wonder if you should have divorced, your kids find some friends in the neighborhood, you see things rosier. Your views on that back injury will change depending on if that back feels particularly stiff that day or not. Whether you regret 'coming out' may depend on the most recent reaction you get. Your 'regrets' will ebb and flow as the days and months move along because your mood towards your 'future', your changing relationships with others, and your physical health impact mood and will have ebbs and flows as well. Its very easy to blame 'the big decision' you made for how things turned out. Some doubts are always inevitable and if that is what you are measuring, your answers will likewise change from day to day.

The changes you will have in your life with a top or bottom surgery + a new gender identity, are among the most complex physically emotionally and socially. It should be a very deliberate, carefully considered decision that will take time and a lot self reflection along the way. And there will be times when people get this decision wrong.

That does not mean we 'ban the decision' or prohibit the option from consideration or plaster the internet with suicide stories. We stay out of the way, and let the professionals, the patients and their loved ones take their time and figure it out.

Stop claiming I have claimed that children and adults are the same. I did not.

Adults are not the same as children which is why guidelines for specific treatments at specific ages are provided. By age four children are aware of their gender identity and rather than treating children as empty headed cretins, if they feel different they should be listened to. They are not choosing surgery as a child. Children should be assisted by adults to make decisions that suit their own needs and desires which is why social transition is recommended.

Canada is so much more advanced that the United States in so many ways.... I had no idea you could request the state assist with your suicide there..

But since Canada has free universal health care, I don't know why the suicide request would cost anything in the first place, so I think somebody is feeding you a line on the "free" part...

I couldn't help but notice that some of the arguments regarding regrets at botched transgender transition surgery could also be used as arguments against male circumcision because there can be similar regrets from a botched operation.

No one should be changing anything about their body until the day when we can wave a magic wand and *poof* change ourselves into what we want to be.

It could also be used against breast implants, and other cosmetic surgeries. People take a risk when they decide to go under the knife, and sometimes they even die on the operation table. The question is should people be allowed to make those decisions to take those risks with their own bodies. In the case of circumcision, the vast majority of times its an adult making a decision for someone else's body, who also happens to be an infant

As for suicides among the trans community, the suicide rate is significantly higher among those who are denied their treatment than those who undergo treatment. Obviously any lost life is a tragedy, but we need to stop and ask ourselves if we are making decisions on their behalf for their well being, or to simply satisfy our own agenda.

lol children are aware of their gender identity by 4 what a colossal pile of crap. No, no child out there knows they are transgender by 4. You mean to say they are aware of girls and boys and know girls have innies and boys have outies. Way to jump a million miles past that into wherever the hell you feel like.

You post sources about adults and are trying to make the argument we should mutilate children if they tell us to. That is a clear giveaway you are incapable of knowing the difference between adult and child.

Children are not independent and should not be treated that way. If they tell you they can take care of themselves and run away from home and you let them then you are a terrible parent.

likewise if they tell you you should chop off their penis and you do that you are a freaking terrible god awful parent

Plenty of children are not even consciously aware of what gender they are attracted to by the age of 4.
