Cheney: China Deliberately Exported Global ‘Economic Devastation’ via Coronavirus

That is without question, and that alone tells you [the Chinese government] knew that they had human-to-human transmission.”


Cheney continued, “They knew it was so dangerous that they didn’t want it in the rest of their country, but yet they caused it to be exported to the rest of the world, and I think that they pretty clearly did that. I’m sure they understood the economic devastation this virus was going to cause, and I think they made a very clear, calculated decision that they didn’t want to be the only country having to face that devastation.””

I believe that China is guilty of all that Rep. Cheney has charged in this article. They covered it up. They lied about it being human to human. They used the WHO to cover up, repress Taiwan’s report and delay.

 

That China sealed off Wuhan and its province from the rest of China while allowing hundreds of thousands of them to travel the world is all the evidence one really needs to show that they knew the effects and didn’t want to suffer the effects alone. By spreading it to the world they now believe that they can emerge from this as the #1 economic power in the world

Please stay on topic. The topic is what China did after the virus got loose however it did within China.

 

There's no evidence that the virus was created in a lab or that it escaped from a lab, but there is clear evidence that China knew they had a contagious disease on their hands and tried to cover it up. Those are legitimate criticisms.

However, it's highly likely that by the time enough people had died to discern a pattern that indicated a new virus that it had already spread beyond Wuhan. The highly contagious nature of this virus combined with the ability of some of those infected to be entirely asymptomatic means you would have needed to lock down Wuhan as soon as the first person got sick, even though at that point it would have been impossible to know what was going on.

It's why it's questionable how much Trump's travel ban to one single country actually helped. At that point, it was already in other countries too. It's one of those things that looks sound on the face of it but falls apart under scrutiny. Don't get me wrong, I'm not criticizing him for it. It was the right decision, it just didn't go far enough. Yes yes yes I know some on the left called it racist, but Trump still did it anyway so that criticism wasn't stopping him from making the choice and continuing it. But that wasn't going to happen for one single reason.

At that point, Trump still believed the seriousness of the virus was being overblown into a hoax by the media to attack him. Hell there are still people who think that, even today. But we all know Trump had access to information that could have informed him and chose to ignore it to push his own narrative.

 

If they knew, then was this a deliberate attack on the US economy as a way to strike back at Trump over his hard trade stances? Was the CCP attempting to influence our elections?

If this virus hatched naturally in nature why in the hell would anything need to be covered up? I’m not buying it. Something happened, whether intentional or accidental, only China knows for sure. The virus hit the scene cloaked in lies and deceit, and that should raise everyone’s suspicions.

No, that’s a distraction. It’s what trump did and didn’t do that matters to the US. Dozens of other leaders have handled the coronavirus pandemic much better and saved lives while trump is egging on the death count to help his re-election.

Most major countries in EU certainly haven’t done better. Maybe if Democrats were on board in Jan and supported shutting down travel instead of calling him racist we could have done more. Then again it was already here because China allowed it to get here.

I doubt that American Socialists have the economic ties that Trump Inc. has had with China in terms of manufacturing
their goods in that country.

It's absolutely correct to criticize China for their handling of the virus - they were real dicks. But I'm doubtful that it was
a purposeful attempt to ruin economies, as China relies on foreign purchase of their goods to power their economy as well.
It would be like cutting off their nose to spite their face.

There are probably a hundred items around your house that have "built in China" stamped somewhere.

One can criticize China for being dicks about this virus and still admit that our economy and theirs are intricately intertwined.

But now is the time to completely change all of that by taking Red China out of America's economic equations.

 

One theory I heard and would propose is that when Communist China realized it had a major problem that would set it back economically, it allowed the transmission of the disease to be shared with the world. After all,economic superiority has been it's stated goal all along and a Communist Dictatorship is not answerable to it's own people.

Hunter Biden had some pretty healthy dealings with Communist China. 1 and a half billion dollars worth. What was he peddling?....it surely wasn't his experience. Ties with China were never exclusive with President Trump. Ever since Nixon our nation has been sold out to them. Almost every industry without consideration we were dealing with a bunch of thugs. You can't deny that President Trump is the ONLY politician that has openly held them accountable. I am sure his dealings of the past have to be weened off the China teat, like so many in the American economy, but we will at last be dealing with it. In the meantime, Democrats can cry about our "xenophobic dealings" We will do far better to transfer our economic loyalties to India, Viet Nam, South Korea and others with a smaller degree of skepticism.

AOC has even stated American workers should eve boycott returning to work........like Socialists in general, it is in her interest that government will "take care of" weak willed Americans. The problem with that theory is that China is extremely dependent on sales to feign countries to power it's economy - by spreading the virus, they were crippling their future market potential and sales. I'm not sure it's a powerful argument to say that China knew they were in economic trouble from this virus, so they made sure they killed the market for the buyers of their products that they would need to rebuild that economy ... it's a thin theory.

 

I don't know if the claim is true - did China really allow flights out while keeping the city under quarantine domestically? If true that is mind boggling. But I haven't seen any evidence that it's true.

However if true, your point is a great one. Why would they want to economically cripple their customers? Could it be nothing more than incomprehensible incompetence on the part of the Chinese?
