800 extra Police in Perth at the moment, and fighter jets are flying over the city (along with helicopters).

Police are on every corner, and streets are barricaded.

And yesterday, a "suspicious package" was found just near my office:

"The package was found at the corner of St George's Terrace and Barrack Street, within the special security zone established for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting, about 4.30pm."

I'm just looking forward to this long weekend, so that I can have a sovereign sausage sizzle.

If you bump into a pudgy white guy with a generic Canadian accent who has manboobs and can't seem to connect with people, say 'Hi Steven'.

Perth has lots of pudgy white guys with manboobs :-D (I'll just call them all Steven)

Liz arrived yesterday at 5pm, and I even got a little wave as she pulled into Government House. Nice :-D

Today: Afternoon Tea at 4pm in the grounds of Government House with Liz and Phil.

It was on the TV today, broadcasting live. I still have no idea what the heck it is. Obviously I am living under a rock.

Hehe, well I read the paper this morning so I know its a bunch of leaders from countries that the Queen runs, or is head of State over, whatever. Sounds utterly boring to me!

I wouldn't call it boring. I would call it useless. I don't know why it just isn't a club of four (UK, Australia, Canada and New Zealand), maybe include Ireland and the US to make a little First-World Anglo Club. She is only head of state of 16 of the 54 members. Maybe keep the other 12 realms too. Most of them are Carribbean Islands and Pacific Islands.

The rest of the Commonwealth with some exceptions are backwards, regressive leeches. Human rights are a foreign concept to most members; many of them are run by military dictatorships and a majority of members show up cap in hand looking for handouts. I will usually not agree with Margaret Thatcher on anything, but her referral to the CHOGM as "Compulsory Handouts to Greedy Mendicants" to be kind of appropos.

It's been almost 25 years since this event has been hosted by Canada, and great for that. Let the parasites vacation on other people's tax money.

Putting the outcomes of this CHOGM aside http://www.chogm2011.org/sites/default/files/documents/A%20Commonwealth%20of%20the%20People%20EB.pdf, I'd certainly welcome them back with my tax money.

While I didn't vote for the current State Government, I do agree with the Premier's comments:

'Perth provided great hospitality for about 6000 delegates and journalists during CHOGM, including hotels, restaurants, public transport and taxis, Premier Colin Barnett told reporters on Monday.

"We have shown the very best of Perth and this has been a very successful event in West Australian history," he said.

The premier said world television coverage, especially with the Big Aussie Barbecue, had shown WA was more than just a mining state.

"I expect, out of this, there will be further development of our special relationship with Singapore and perhaps something similar with the United Arab Emirates," he said. '

Plus, I got to BBQ with the Queen :-D

Seriously though, Perth is looking much better as a result of this event and it will almost certainly benefit from an increase in tourism.

CHOGM...leaders of one third of the world's population.

    Trade, trade, more trade.

If Indonesia attacks us for the first time, or Japan for the second time, ...Commonwealth nations including Malaysia and NZ might help us.

One can't have enough friends these days.
