https://sports.yahoo.com/colby-covi...protests-tyron-woodley-ufc-win-040026936.html Interesting convergence of politics and mma. The victor, a white Trump supporter known for sporting a MAGA hat, defeated Tyrone Woodley, a black guy who showed up pre-fight wearing a hat which read "make racists catch the fade again" and a BLM shirt. Dana White is known to support Trump, along with Connor McGregor. It's not so easy to intimidate people within the mma world.
How's that? I'm laughing that a guy wearing a BLM shirt and hat reading "make racists catch the fade again" lost to a Trump supporter. 1) It's karma for insinuating that Colby is racist 2) Well, it's just funny watching self righteous wolk folk failing.
Welp, so much for the UFC being the last bit of sports out there that wasn't bringing political crap into entertainment. I'm glad he won the fight, but quite honestly this is just as annoying as seeing all of the left wing stuff that has infected the rest of sports. I don't want to hear about politics, or current events, or social justice, or racism, or any of that while watching sports. If I wanted to hear about that stuff I'd watch the news...I watch MMA to see people get clocked, not to hear about their political or social opinions whether I happen to agree with them or not. This is unfortunate.
I hear ya, but at least the fighters don't all enter the ring before the first event and take a knee. Dana wouldn't have that bs.
I was under the impression that Dana wasn't tolerating any political type stuff in the UFC seeing how they've been pretty good about just being "sports" while the rest of sports turn into utter trash with their agenda pushing nonsense plastered all over the place. I know he can't exactly control what fighters say on interviews and whatnot but I hope he at least addresses this and tells them to knock this stuff off going forward. I really do miss the days where after a long week I could kick my feet up on the couch and watch sports on the weekend and just escape from reality and enjoy it for a few hours. Nowadays if I wish to watch sports I have to sit through a series of political demonstrations no matter what channel I turn to. It's unfortunate, this isn't what people want which is why sports ratings are dropping like a rock across the board. Granted I can't say the interview didn't make me smile inside especially given the two drastically different ideologies of the fighters and I smiled at the "image" that this fight just represented. But still given the choice I'd rather not see this stuff in the UFC or any other sport.
What is 'the fade'? I don't watch UFC... but I doubt its immune to the 'pro wrestling' effect. These guys are prolly out having a beer together right now.
I'm way behind on my lingo. Im always having to look things up on that not rural dictionary out there in the internet.
Amen, well said. I am pleased with the extra free time I have now. I've caught some great shows on netflix, have been reading more and certainly watching a **** ton less commercials.
