I agree completely! Democracy is a means to securing your rights, one of many. A Republic with democratic features is preferable to direct democracy. It works best at the local level, where people have substantial representation. One-size-fits-all democracy is no democracy at all. Government's purpose for being is to protect your rights and redress externalities. Externalities work over distance, therefore government ought to be decentralised where possible so locales can select policy best representative of their community. It decreases polarisation as multiple viewpoints across different areas can get their policy enacted, it turns each locality into a laboratory of democracy. I recommend a read of The Articles of Confederation by Merrill Jenson. He's a progressive historian (not my thing exactly), but his analysis of the period shows an alternate path the US could have gone down, one more true to democracy and the rights that restrain it alike.
Well, it seems this headline was way off.... they only got about 1/3 of the vote They still don't have many policies anymore, but this little corner of the GOP hasn't totally gone off the rails... https://www.denverpost.com/2021/09/18/gop-close-primary-colorado-vote/ Now they need to get rid of Boebert and we'll call it a day...
This doesn't look very reliable as a site, but funny as hell: Given all of the problems facing Colorado Rep. Lauren “Q*Bert” Boebert (R-ifle), we thought it might be time to start asking a more longer-term question… Which will come first for Boebert: Election Day 2022 or “Indictment Day” for any number of potential crimes? (R-ifle) Lmfao. The "potential crimes" are campaign fund violations. Six grand worth. Nothingburger, but funny anyway. The Real Boebert Question: Election Day or Indictment Day? - Colorado Pols
Read through most of the comments... those were a hoot... especially the one about her hubby being a moose... Sounds like she pushed the limit on every campaign finance law in the book, but she'll claim ignorance and walk away....
Yeah, call it an interest free loan and call it a day. I like this one: He has an oil derrick tattooed on his arm.. there is no more obvious phallic symbol. I do not know Mr. Boebert. I would not want to cast unwarranted aspersions, but he is a roughneck, never a group singled out for being dominant playing Jeopardy. In fact, I will ask a question I heard long before I turned out in the oilfield. What is the hardest thing on a roughneck? The 3rd grade…
I don’t understand the gnashing of teeth here. Many states don’t allow unaffiliated to vote in primaries?
How many states don't have ANY primaries for one of the parties? That's what they were considering....
