Conservatives. Did Clinton obstruct justice in the investigation into her email server? Did she knowingly and willfully have sensitive information on her server while knowing it was wrong? Intent seems to be the line the DOJ uses to decide if it is a criminal act or not. I ask because much of the defense of Trump are claims of a double standard.

An honest question. Back during the Clinton investigation I am not too proud to admit that I watched mainly CNN and MSNBC which I now realize are the propaganda wings of the DNC… in practice anyway. I no longer use them as a source and pretty much avoid them. Sadly this means my info on the subject is the partisan leftist perspective. Because of this and a desire to have a more rounded perspective I ask those on the right to tell me what the left will not or cannot. Providing links would be appreciated but any input would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

Yes. She bleach-bitted her servers, that were under subpoena, so that the classified information could not be retrieved, and her staff beat their smart phones to pieces with hammers in order to prevent information damning to Hillary from being pulled from them.

Hillary deliberately routed her all her communications, while Secretary of State, to her home computer, probably to avoid oversight of her global bribery operation with the Clinton Foundation. The office requires handling classified information, she intentionally and illegally loaded classified information on her home computer. The intent that Comey was talking about was intent to harm the national security of the country.

    First, thanks for the info.

The bleach-bitted wipe does not surprise me as it is a common practice within the IT community to use such programs. I have used them many times myself for a number of reasons. I also have an undergraduate degree in Information Security. What would concern me is if the wipe was an attempt to destroy incriminating evidence. That would seem to me to meet the DOJ’s bar for what constitutes a criminal act. Unfortunately I find competing claims on the timelines of when the server was wiped and when the subpoena was issues, both from partisan sources. When I see conflicting narratives I tend to remain undecided. Do you have a link that shows when the servers were wiped and when the subpoena was issues?

Smashed phones. The links I read made no claims of it being a crime. Is there evidence that proves otherwise?

As for the claim that “Hillary deliberately routed her all her communications, while Secretary of State, to her home computer, probably to avoid oversight of her global bribery operation with the Clinton Foundation.” You lose me at “probably” as it is speculation. I seek fact, not speculation. If she committed a crime then speculation should not be considered evidence.

As for it being illegal for Clinton to have government documents on her personal email server I could not find evidence that it was illegal. Can you provide a source?

As for Comey, he said she was reckless but I found no evidence that he said it was a crime. Do you have evidence that he said it was a crime?

I am not saying Clinton is innocent, but I do need better evidence to conclude that the got away with a crime.

I would say that destroying 30,000 subpoenaed emails and also destroying devices to hide evidence.... Yeah I would say that qualifies as obstruction

Found better quality info on the timelines of when Clinton wiped the server and when she received the subpoena. Now to understand Comey’s rational for why he did not find it criminal.

The obstruction was the coverup of president Barack Obama using a pseudonym in email communications with Hillary Clinton on that server... and knowing it was an unauthorized server as he would have had to whitelist the non government address into his Blackberry to receive her messages...

    @robini123

Hillary had Top secret and SAP documents on her unsecured unauthorized server... no speculation at all, just fact... and Obama knew it and communicated on the unsecured unauthorized server using a pseudonym in those emails....

I am not a conservative. But you should not need one, to understand this issue. To wit, if there had been a strong, provable case against Clinton, there is no reason to doubt that FBI Director Comey, would have recommended her indictment. Lifelong Republican (up until 2016) Comey, it would be ridiculous to assume, was playing favorites, with Hillary. It was no love for her, which led Comey to become unaffiliated. In fact, Director Comey's sending a letter, critical of Clinton, just two days before the election, was clearly contrary to his own agency's policy of non-interfence, within 90 days of an election.

By the way, I am no fan of Hillary's. At the time (when I was unaware of FBI protocol, regarding not speaking at all, about investigations yielding no indictments; or about not inserting themselves, w/in 90 days of an election) I had agreed with Comey, about Clinton's irresponsible handling of the matter.

There is clear evidence that she had classified emails in a private server. The question becomes is that illegal? I have yet to find a definitive evidence backed answer to that.

Been doing that and find much conflicting info. I also understand that a google search I do may return different results than a google search you do. This is why I appreciate links to support claims. I also believe that the burden of proof is upon those that claim she is or is not guilty.

Do you consider smashing phones and using bleach bit obstruction? If Trump done that would it have been obstruction? Hell yes she obstructed justice.

It is not illegal to smash our own property. It would be illegal to smash the property of the government or to smash her own phones in an effort to hide crimes. Yet I have found no evidence that her aids smashing her phones was a crime. Been looking for evidence that it is and thus far have found no evidence that it is. Can you present such evidence?

The emails that were on those phones were government information.

Perhaps, but what evidence is there that it was a crime to have the emails on her phone or to destroy the phones? Clinton certainly was irresponsible with sensitive data, which is disqualifying for holding public office in my opinion, but that does not mean it was or was not a crime.

A weakness on the conservative side is that if Clinton committed crimes and got away with it, then it would be hypocritical and immoral to defend Trump by using the Clinton debacle as justification to commit like crimes. I was raised Christian Conservative and was taught that it is wrong to justify bad behavior by pointing to the bad behavior of another. Is this principle no longer of value in Christian Conservatism?

If it is wrong for one then it is wrong for all. Seems to me that the principled would stick to their values as opposed to getting in the gutter with the other side.

    ok hillary is crooked

the better question is why did the GOP do nothing??

for 2 years the GOP controlled all 3 branches of government

they had investigations out the ying yang on Hillary

and the GOP is so lame they could not bring charges or indictment against either Clinton

the Clintons began being investigated when hillary was involved in a real estate deal named whitewater

and still the GOP got ZILCH

the Democrats know how to get things done..

despite only controlling 2 branches of government they still indicted trump

Sure he is indicted, which is meaningless if he walks away with an easily paid fine if convicted. I think there is zero chance he goes to jail. If convicted he should, but he won’t… he is too powerful and unfortunately the more power one has the less likely they are to be held accountable.

There were two phones that were destroyed by one staffer. No other devices were destroyed in such a manner that I can find.

That the first instance happened long before the investigation and the second event happening prior to the court asking for them that seems to just be the way the staffer made sure the data wasn’t accessible.

She was negligent, as was her staff — there is a difference between that and lighting boxes on fire or trying to flush them down toilets. Or lying to the FEDs about what is in your position and then refusing to give them back.

    Negligence vs criminal

Did Trump obstruct justice when a pool boy flooded a room holding surveilance tapes following seizure of classified documents?

common practice for people's personal devices as well as corporations and even governments

what happened to all the emails\texts during 1-6, wiped, how convenient for Trump.... and those were government property

    https://thehill.com/policy/national...nes-of-trump-era-leaders-erasing-jan-6-texts/

"“DOD and Army conveyed to Plaintiff that when an employee separates from DOD or Army he or she turns in the government-issued phone, and the phone is wiped. For those custodians no longer with the agency, the text messages were not preserved and therefore could not be searched,” the agencies wrote in a March court filing"
