The current Orwellian theme is that 'muslims ("terrorists" by definition according to much of the discourse) hate us for our freedom and our values and therefore we have to be over there so they dont come here.' These missperceptions have been further inflamed by opportunist demagogs in Washington and in the media to engineer consent for US imperial activities.

A study by the Defense Science Board, a Pentagon advisory panel, in December 2004 concluded that:

Writing about the same 2004 Defense Science Board study, the Financial Times observes that:

The Financial Times then rightly points out that despite Bush's "messianic mission", Washington also opposed and resisted the demands for democratic reforms in Iraq.

In a staff discussion 45 years ago, President Eisenhower observed that:

The reasons for the "campaign of hatred" were explained by the National Security Council:

    Furthermore, the perception is correct:

The primary threat to US domination is indigenous nationalism in it's Third World dependancies:

The “conservative grouping” serving US interests:

    The 1957 NIE warns:

The obediant conservative elements, which reject the radical notions of Arab nationalism are:

Therefore, the United States must apply a policy of "containment":

The United States cannot tolerate even the tinyest spec of independance as it can become a "virus" and spread to the energy producing country's in the Middle East. The US poicy of "containment" was designed to prevent the real version of the "domino theory" which was the Arab Spring, most recently. The dominos fell and now it's trying to preserve of existing institutions the existing system in Egypt.

I hate to break this to you, but Arab Nationalism is dead. It's been replaced by Islamism.

Washington supported the islamists against the secular nationalists. Just as Israel supported Hamas to undermine the secular PLO. Any group with the intention of using "our resources" for their own purposes is the enemy. Secular or religious.

Well, I guess you got a point. Too bad for the Arab secularists. The long night is descending on them. The best course of action for America is to **** ASAP. Leave the Islamists to their own devices.

Excuse me, but like most Americans, I care for what is good for America and if a policy is good for America, but bad for muslims in the ME, then (*)(*)(*)(*) the muslims. They can eat sand.

Americans have no wish to be "global citizens" if it means they have to kowtow to the needs of other nationalities. No one in America gives a (*)(*)(*)(*) if a Muslim in the Middle East lives under Democracy or Dictatorship. All we care about is they just leave us the (*)(*)(*)(*) alone and let us do what is right for us.

So if what is "right" for America is to dominate and manipulate the ME for its resources, the people there should just bend over and take it, eh?

What a bunch of imperialist BS.
