Washington supported the islamists against the secular nationalists. Just as Israel supported Hamas to undermine the secular PLO. Any group with the intention of using "our resources" for their own purposes is the enemy. Secular or religious.

Excuse me, but like most Americans, I care for what is good for America and if a policy is good for America, but bad for muslims in the ME, then (*)(*)(*)(*) the muslims. They can eat sand. Americans have no wish to be "global citizens" if it means they have to kowtow to the needs of other nationalities. No one in America gives a (*)(*)(*)(*) if a Muslim in the Middle East lives under Democracy or Dictatorship. All we care about is they just leave us the (*)(*)(*)(*) alone and let us do what is right for us.
So if what is "right" for America is to dominate and manipulate the ME for its resources, the people there should just bend over and take it, eh? What a bunch of imperialist BS.
