I have brought up the fact several times on other threads, it has mostly gone ignored. I figured it best to start a thread about the substance and its implications and effects would be appropriate. I have been away from AGW discussion for some time now and I admit that if there have been new findings within the last 6 months I may be ignorant to them.

 

There was an article I read a year or so ago that explained the receeding ice in the northern passage to the soot from the ships using the passage.

Europe is in love with diesel vehicles, soot being the primary pollutant.

There is another man made impact on global abedo - asphalt. I have a 5000 square foot, asphalt driveway, impossible to walk on in bare feet on a sunny summer day. At 100W per foot, and with asphalts 95% absorbtion, that driveway converted 800MW a year of light to heat. 46% more than the average of the planet. How may square feet of asphalt roads and rooftops?

 

All the paved over surfaces can easily alter the average temperatures of a city, making it hotter in the day time and colder at night.

 

So there are no objections to mans contribution to the melting of the polar ice caps?
