Daft Punk's house music thread

Indeed! I dig that dj from Austin for his music reminds me of Daft Punk, who sort of introduced me to house music when its wave hit us in the 90s, and gave birth to the so-called french touch, I think, partly, as a result of the UK government's backlash on raves? Anyway, great memories...still can't get my mind off a few tracks of that era..

Good way of checking out the new stuff, go to Juno downloads and find the chart for your genre eg tech house, bookmark it and when you want some music select play all. You only get about a minute of each track but it's a good way of seeing what's new.

I don't know Paris i think [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MV_3Dpw-BRY"]Kavinsky - Nightcall (Drive Original Movie Soundtrack) - YouTube[/ame] is my favorite of his still. It just grips me, comes off as horrifying and that is not off-putting and drive is an incredible movie.

Little more than computer generated noise with a beat.

If you want a kickdrum on every beat and some solid sounds.. you need something like this, something made by a human. Kickdrum on every beat with offbeat cymbals. This was house music before there was house music.

I have yet to watch Drive, and I almost bought the Nightcall vinyl yesterday (I heard it on Radio Nova when at work Sunday morning, it haunted my mind all day) before I realised I need to buy a new turntable; but I might still get it while it's in store. Testarossa Autodrive is my favorite though, I really dig it: it sounds old but it's a tribute to Disco

Agreed on Daft Punk, Homeworks is still my favorite of their albums, and the soundtrack of Irréversible contains some very good earlier tunes - available on cds!
