Have we as Republicans become to overconfident?

As if losing a Republican Senate seat to Democrats in Arizona and two in Georgia was bad we also lost one in Montana.

Jon Tester is a Democrat who won his Senate seat in Montana back in 2007 and has won re-election every time since by a small margin. He is up for re-election again in 2024. Montana is a deep red state and yet we can't even keep both of the Senate seats.

This shows how fragile the Republican party is. How can we expect to defeat the Democrats on a national level if we can't even beat one in a deep red state?

Georgia and Arizona showed us that we can't take nothing for granted. I was shocked when Arizona was called for Biden. I could not believe it.

The Republican party needs to do better. We can't just keep screaming the election was stolen. That won't help us in the next presidential election. We can't just keep attacking Biden and hoping that America will vote him out. We can't rely on the polls. We can't just expect voters to back us up just because the polls say Biden is unpopular.

Jon Tester was a warning sign that we ignored. He showed us that we can be defeated in red states that should be safe for us. Jon Tester wins by less than 20,000 votes every time. Arizona and Georgia we lost by much smaller margins close to 10,000.

We need to try harder to win and get votes even if that means door knocking and talking to people we know may be Democrats. We need every vote we can get. We need to win or we don't have a voice and when we don't have a majority in the House or Senate we are the losers.

Getting more registered Republicans does help. Pinellas County, Florida is less than 2,000 votes from flipping blue to red. That county has almost 1 million people living there and Republicans like Scott Pressler are fighting for it. He understands every vote matters. In some states the Republicans are just to lazy hoping for the best and then complain when we lose and say it was voter fraud or cheating.

Let's look at Jon Tester as a reminder that we can do better. The 2022 midterms are coming up and we need every vote we can get. Historically we should do well but the political atmosphere in America is changing and anything is possible. It's up to us to fight for our party or be lazy and do nothing but that is a mistake.

Elections matter and the Democrats are the majority. If we want to beat them and win in future elections we have to fight for our party. We may have a uphill battle from here on out but that is better then doing nothing and leaving the elections up to chance or the polls.

Just getting 20,000 more registered voters for Montana in 2018 could have gained us another seat in the Senate but we don't try hard enough for those extra votes thus we have Jon Tester. A Democrat in a deep red state.

The new Republican party has no interest in expanding its tent. To the contrary they seem to like calling out conservatives as RINOs and delight in kicking them out of the party. Probably the only way I would return to the Republican party is if Trump went and created a new Patriot party. If the trend of losing suburbia continues the party has no chance in future.

It's always appeared to me the powers that be in the Republican Party (and that includes MORE than politicians) are quite content to be in the minority. WHY? I haven't a clue....maybe maintaining some notion of "ideological purity" is more important than winning elections, and God forbid they have to lower themselves to the grunt work of ginning up new voters.
