Is De Santis insane? No one is being forced to buy lab grown meat or trying to kill agriculture. If people want to buy lab grown meat, why take that freedom away from them? This great country was built on competition and capitalism, not killing innovation. Why is DeSantis afraid of competition? Do you need big brother government to tell you what you can and cannot buy?

If you want to force companies to differentiate between lab grown meat and conventional meat, go ahead, but an outright ban reeks of a special words that people like to throw around. No wonder people complain about living in this country.

If entire country can ban lab grown meat, then what's the problem with a small state doing it?

BTW, for a while Walmart was selling plant based meat, and every time I went there the price kept getting lower and lower and lower until the crap was yanked off the shelves.

Italy bans lab-grown meat in nod to farmers

Ya, I'm not a fan of an outright ban. Sounds more a big 'F U' to folks who want to use lab grown meat as an excuse to ban real meat. Going crazy in the opposite direction is still crazy.

Certainly any lab grown meat should be very clearly labelled. I want nothing to do with that ****.

No clue. Don't care. I don't use the FDA as a basis for what's healthy to eat.

He's catering to the cattleman's industry which is no surprise since Florida has such a big beef industry.

Are we Italy? No we are the USA that is built on capitalism. Do you want big brother government to tell you what you can and cannot eat? Competitions breeds efficiency. Why are you afraid of industries becoming more efficient?

I have seen 0 legislation that forces anyone to eat lab grown meat. Why is DeSantis passing legislation that is based on outright lies?

If it was up to DeSantis, we would still be using horses to travel.

Wait…did a lib just promote capitalism?

Libs compare the USA to other countries all the time when it comes to healthcare, guns and immigration.*

*Except Australia has insanely strict immigration rules.

I am not a fan of the Florida governor, but studies suggest that the process creates twice as much carbon as real meat and potentially will accelerate human cancers because of the hormones added to he bioreactors. If california can ban ICU engines in the name of CO2, I see no reason Florida can't ban franken-chicken, but then again, I am surprised California doesn't require a warning on its warning labels that warning stickers may cause cancer.

Its in early production and being refined. No point in banning this early and killing innovation.

And DeSantis isn't banning it because if carbon footprint. As always, follow the $$$$.

Fascism doesn’t justify more fascism. Why can’t the free market decide on this?

Not to toss shade on these conspiracy theories… but a veto proof majority passed this legislation in the Florida House and Senate. DeSantis had no choice but to sign the bill.

No. He can veto the bill and send it back for a revote for comprise. He didn't neither because follow the $$$$.

Florida's social media bill passed with a veto proof majority which DeSantis vetoed, so your argument that DeSantis had no choice doesn't hold water.

Find me a post where i said that. You cannot.

Hopefully next time you refrain from saying you are a free market person...because you are everything but. Perhaps we should be more concerned about liberals crossing a crosswalk when they have right of way over governor being a fascist.

agree, just write a law that it is a felony to sneak lab grown meat into a product without putting it on the label

as long as people know what they are eating and it's a choice, I do not care

exactly, that is what I fear, the anti-meat folks trying to ban healthy natural real meat

I would 100% support it being a felony to sell lab grown meat without it being clearly labelled

The real future of this is that with lab grown meats you eliminate methane gas and of course a whole Kroger sack full of diseases. Yes it will cause farmers to lose jobs but they have been on their way out replaced by corporate farms for a long time. Fresh meat will become a designer market but it is inevitable. As people realize they can have environmentally safe, disease free meat loaf they will go for it. All 50 states

The more bills like this pass the more progress is made out of country and even more lost jobs overseas.

After running back to Florida with his tail tucked when getting whipped by Trump in the campaign, DeSantis is back to the ONLY two things that he knows how to do well: His war on "woke" and pandering to the fears of his base.

    https://mynews13.com/fl/orlando/new...esters--and-desantis-signs-laws-targeting-dei

And that's what this is about. Pandering to farmers as his base.

Of course, he also had a meeting recently with Trump to kiss the ring. He knows who butters his bread. This guy is SOO pathetic. Kissing up and kicking down, DeSantis exemplifies this typical behavior in GOP world.

Again, it already passed with a veto-proof majority, which also means it is widely popular in the state, and a veto would be overturned. Additionally, this was a large bill that did a lot of things. This was a very small component. This is just blaming for the sake of blaming DeSantis who didn't write the bill or vote for it.

Don’t really care what Florida does, in Florida, but I thought it was a defining economic principle of conservatism that the Government never interferes or meddles in the private spectra
