Corporate media has awakened a sleeping giant. Freedom living constitution supporting Americans.
The demand for freedom of speech including our choice of programming is rising and becoming strong again in America.
Isn't this dispute about finances not politics. I think I read Newsmax was demanding more money from the cable company.
Technically they demanded just money since the only way they got in Direct to begin with was to give them the content for free. Direct will eventually replace them, Link TV (a liberal PBS-like station), and all the odd local market channels they have just lost with something eventually. They just aren't going to pay a king's ransom to carry whoever they add.
This is what the right has become ladies and gents Demanding private companies carry their message even if it that company has to pay excessive financial compensation to a station no one watches. Vote accordingly Thank you @XXJefferson#51 for always providing such excellent examples
Exactly but the audience of Newsmax need to feel that they are always under seige...so forever victims with a grievance. "Rules for thee but not for me" is the Trump Party.
You do realize direct tv has the freedom to have whichever channels it wants, right? Surely you defend their freedom to do such, right?
It was a business decision. Directtv did not want to pay Nexmaxx a network fee to them. In this article, it says, On multiple occasions, we made it clear to Newsmax that we wanted to continue to offer the network, but ultimately Newsmax’s demands for rate increases would have led to significantly higher costs that we would have to pass on to our broad customer base,” a DirecTV spokesperson said in a statement to Fierce Video. “Anyone, including our customers, can watch the network for free via NewsmaxTV.com, YouTube.com and on multiple streaming platforms like Amazon Fire TV, Roku, and Google Play. We continually evaluate the most relevant programming to provide our customers and expect to fill this available channel with new content.” So, the conservatives who allegedly want capitalism are now complaining that capitalism does not work for them. What I highlighted in bold is the crux of the dispute and why Directv/ATT dropped them because the two sides could not come to a mutual understanding. It happens. And as Trump said in is book, "Art of the Deal" that ATT was willing to walk away from something that they deemed was too expensive for them. Ironic isn't it?
Actually AT&T was refusing to pay any compensation at all for NewsMax while paying for channels with much smaller viewership.
