I'm asking because I see the "event" as a complete joke and haven't ever acknowledged it in my life. Do they teach anything that's based on fact like the fact that black "people" are known more for contributing the "drive-by shooting," the "gang rape," creating 500 murder per year cities, looting during natural disaster aftermaths and starting riots whenever something doesn't go their way? Are these important events in black history acknowledged or is it just the joke of an event that I assume it is, full of artificial praise for exaggerated events that didn't really make much of a difference to our society anyway? Every other race teaches negative events in their respective histories, are blacks exempt from criticism of their own?
If you think its a complete joke and have never acknowledged it in life (except for this very thread) then why does it matter what does or doesn't get taught?
Well, there's nothing wrong with racism. It's completely natural. So thank you. Now, if someone could just answer the question...
There is one compelling thing about Black History month and that's the revelation of events that have long been hidden or suppressed. For example, it was only in recent decades that it became known Crispus Attucks (the first American killed in the leadup to the Revolutionary War) was Black. A few years ago Professor Henry Wiencek's writings were especially popular during BHM. Wiencek often uses secondary sources in order to reveal certain unknown or disregarded historical facts. For example, on TV, movies, or other media we are shown paintings or other signs which reveal that Washington's troops were exclusively White. Professor Wiencek revealed something quite different based on his readings of personal letters, diaries, or other accounts not attributable to professional historians. Through these sources he speculated that about 40% of Washington's troops were Black. This was widely discussed years ago in BHM. Strange how this no longer is discussed so often but perhaps because it is no longer speculation but accepted as fact.
Probably because it's false, re-written history designed to show blacks aren't the useless excuse for human beings they appear to be today to everyone who has eyes and a fully functional brain. How about answering the thread topic instead of rambling off-topic about propaganda that no sane person would take seriously?
Personally I enjoy Black History Month for one important reason ... it gets under the skin of Racist, and that alone is good enough for me.
So, we've established that nothing realistic or relevant is taught during black history month then... great. An empty event for an empty "race."
Im still waiting for Newt to teach Backs how to get Pay-Checks over Welfare Checks at the NAACP Convention have you seen an announcement yet?
Does it matter what his race is? And why does this have to be tought in Feb instead of with the rest of the revolutionary war? Would seem that if someone was taking American History in school, this would fall somewhere near the beginning of the school year instead of Feb. Or does this justify blacks being anti-establishment? Again, what does this do for the black community? Does knowing that blacks fought for the independance of the USA give blacks more of a sense of responsibility for the nation they currently live in? Can this sense of pride and patriotism and respect for laws not exist without knowing someone of your race was involved with the formation of the country? But sense this thread is about weather or not blacks will teach the negatives of their race, when is it going to be introduced into BHM that if not for a black land owner sueing one of his servants who ran out on his debt, there wouldn't have been slavery in America? I mean since a black man was the first person to own a slave in America, it seems fitting that blacks should owe the hardships of their people for 200 years of slavery in America to someone of their own race, don't you?
The fact that Newt had the mindset to actually teach the black folk how and why to become responsible people speaks volumes when compared to race baiters like jackhole and sharpless who deploy that same old tired blame whitey or blame perceived white racists as being the blockade to black independence, black freedom and the black rise from permanent ghetto and crypt & bloods status. Learn to and stop the truth.
Good deflection of the topic. I responded to the person that doesn't think whites teach negatives of white history. Are you going to stay with what I said, or try to deflect again about Newt, who I agree with you looks down on other races.

Translation: I won't bother to disprove anything here when asked so I'll just make some assumptions instead of do research. And there's no "we" here. There's just you.
I'd love to have Newt come to one of my events ... if he has the stones to talk the talk outside of Conservative Speeches. Usually these cowards only talk on the internet.
Does it matter what his race is? Yes and no. For years we have been taught that Blacks contributed NOTHING to the cause of freedom or to the betterment of society. Crispus Attucks and others prove otherwise. Therefore, it shows that Americans come in all shades of color - it has always been so whether anyone likes it or not. why does this have to be tought in Feb instead of with the rest of the revolutionary war? Buddy, you missed the boat on that one ~ the point of BHM is that this should be taught within the course of a class on American history. does this justify blacks being anti-establishment Nonsensical question which is totally irrelevant. Ditto for the comment "blacks will teach the negatives of their race ..." We don't teach "negatives" of the White race the rest of the year nor "negativity" of females during Womens History Month. Let's try to approach this issue with some degree of rationality.
No, that'd be racist and evil. Didn't you know? Racism is not tolerated... unless it's directed at White people.
