And I have seen cute crack whores in North Philadelphia all over the place, younger ones hang out with the drug dealers, older/used ones hang out on street corners by themselves. Justin's beaver is just your average dope publicized by the establishment with intent to give HOPE to the poor.

 

I am interested in this guy in much the same way I am compelled to see how bad a car accident is on the freeway.

Just recognize that the national government itself, and the lower tiers of government as well, are at war with basic American standards of virtue.

There's a reason kids in California read Animal Farm in the fourth grade. It's so they won't read it when they're older, and able to understand it, because it's now "a kid's book".

There's a reason the state educational and social busy-body institutions are empowered to interfere in parent-child relationships. They need to weaken those bonds and at the earliest age possible get the child to swing his allegiance to the State. There's a reason they don't teach "1984" in high schools any more, the child is becoming old enough to understand.

I don't see anything wrong in the concept itself, maybe you are biasing the consequences of a system like this. Do you prefer poor people becoming criminals, thugs and desperates? If my state can grant me a bare decent living witohut becoming a threat and without weighing too much on people's purse, then i don't see how this could be a bad thing.

Let's keep in mind that 8% of the world population owns 80% if the world's total wealth. If i were a multibillionaire i wouldn't mind if a part of my money went to help poor people, i don't need all that wealth for myself. But i'm also aware that not everyone shares this kind of mindset. Do you think it's wrong or is it right?

 

I wouldn't recognize Justin beaver if I came face to face with him on the street, but I don't think anybody's giving hope to anybody else by publicizing him. Maybe they're just trying to distract people. That's a common tactic.

The Poverty rate in 1959 was 22.4, by 1973 at the height of the New Society programs it had fallen to 11.1. When the Republican Reagan was elected in 1980 however it rose to 13.0 and continued rising until 1983. It didn't reach 13 again until 1988 when Clinton's first year saw a high of 15.1. There was then a steady decline to 11.3 in 2000. Unfortunately a Republican was elected in 2000 and the poverty rate has rose every year since except for 2011 and 2012 when Democratic policies finally took hold despite the most obstructionist Republican Congress in history. The two most important things to note are 1. The Great Society worked, and worked very well, reducing overall poverty by 11% in just a little over a decade 2. The rise and fall of poverty can be almost exactly linked to the Party of the President. Under Republicans it rose, Under Democrats it fell.

The Mayor should read the numbers, accept that he was wrong, and let's move on.
