Natural selection will eventually rid the planet of them as it did the dinosaurs but unfortunately their ecological stupidity, greed and ignorance is crapping the place up for the rest of us as well.

 

I guess I agree with the general sentiment... minus the bits about alcoholics and addicts. Those folks need help. I prefer the treatment approach. Their innability to abstain or moderate ends up costing one way or another through incarceration, hostipitalization, and in the societal sense in various ways.

 

That's why I suggest letting states handle welfare. You obviously care, and you're right there on the ground floor so you know what those people could benefit from.

Personally, I think welfare makes it possible for the poor to continue to make bad life choices. You think it gives people the ability to make good life choices, I assume.

We disagree, so... let your heart guide the contents of your wallet. My wallet is closed for the duration.

Problem is that when you start cutting food stamps and support, it cuts the safety net out from under the kids of this deadbeats. And it's more expensive to relocate the
kids. The kids didn't choose deadbeat parents - it just happens.

Not only that, but 16 million Americans have IQ's that make them marginal as far as capability to work. You have another 15 million who have mental disease that prevents
many from holding a job for any length of time.

Conservatives always claim -" Well, I didn't mean THOSE people ..." But it's not always easy to identify who they are and many fall into that grey zone between functional and
and not. And then are the kids. Manic/Depressives have a lowered sense of judgement and a heightened sexual drive when they are manic. Does that make them a
deadbeat parent - or just a person caught in circumstance beyond their control.

I have no problem cutting out the actual deadbeats - but it's more complicated when this involves kids, or mental illness. Sometimes you just have to accept there will
be some people who abuse the system but to help the needy, some concessions are going to have to be made.

Absolutely. The only reason that farmers are subsidized is because the infrastructure is costly to maintain with so few population, but without it, the farming could not occur.

Im good with ending subsidies, but that did is going to double in cost.

 

People could stand to get thinner. Generally.
