I don't like speaking ill of the dead, but Steve Irwin had the intellect of a "snow-flake" and in the end it kind of proved it.

Steve did have a lot of practical experience, but the thing that let him down was academic knowledge. I only managed to ever watch the first 5 minutes of one of his shows and he came across as a really "blow-hard" used car salesman - all talk, but not much happening upstairs...if you get my drift.

Irwin preached to the public about having respect for wild creatures in their natural habitat, but he jumps into the water and starts swimming with a wild stingray without any safeguards of precautions and thinks that's appropriate - idiot.

He was about 9 million times more likely to drown than to be killed by a stingray.

He lacked academic knowledge on certain wildlife - stingrays being one of them.

Having a University degree would have seen him taking less "school-boy" risks and a more sound approach to wildlife documentaries.

This doesn't say much for Steve, but even the the old Leyland brother documentaries from the 70's had more educational flora & fauna value than most of Irwin's stuff.

Unfortunately, Steve saw himself as a crocodile Dundee, but with an IQ of 60.

Food is wonderful in Melbourne, and so much cheaper than Perth.

The Art Galleries are great! The NGV has some fantastic pieces in it, at both locations: St Kilda Rd and Federation Square.

Getting around on the free city tram is easy, and the rest of the tram system is pretty good (trains aren't that great though).

There is no such thing as a "Black Aussie" the natives are called Aborigines, and Aborigines hate being referred too as Australians for some reason...

Black is an interesting term over here and is racist when used incorrectly.

A great black footballer = OK

    A black bastard = racist

We have lots of white black people.

I don't think we are allowed to be Aussies any more.

I had a work colleague who is quarter aboriginal. We just call him Boung, and he knows some of the best aboriginal jokes.

    Really funny guy.

He doesn't refer himself as anything. But he's brought the subject up.

    Ah, ok.

Most of the aboriginal people I know, or have met, seem to think that there is no such thing as 'quarter aboriginal'. You either are, or you aint!

The quarter-caste/half-caste label seems to be something us white fellas like to keep using, even though the term went out in the '60s.

A couple are friends. A few are fellow musicians that I occasionally colaborate with. A few are work associates.

Not all of them have been to University, however, they've all been to some type of college or institution of higher education.

Two that I know of have higher education levels than me.

    Why your interest?

Ahhhh yes, a university degree would have taught him that stingrays sting. Some people live on the edge, they`re just made that way, you could probably learn that at pre school. Nothing dumber than an academic outside of the class room.

That term can also be used to describe a blowfly. I use it all the time.

His has a powerful, and unique talent. He could easily be world famous, but he is a sensative soul, not in the best of health, and not up to too many stressful tours. When we have parties here, and I play Geoffrey`s songs on the outdoor sound system, even the rowdies stop, & are spellbound.
