Not for being Sunni. For being part of terrorist groups involved in violent acts against the state. Some of them for being part of ISIS and grabbed after the attack against Iran's parliament by ISIS.

In 2016, the same folks Pence is talking about were involved in carrying out terrorist attacks against Iran, either as part of their US funded campaign to stir Kurdish separatism regularly attacking Iranian border guards and troops or as part of ISIS. None were arrested because of their Sunni faith much less executed. Iran has millions of Sunnis, many in parliament, and the whole story being presented is ridiculous.

I have had several pages of conversation and explained what I can regarding the rights and limitations on religious freedom in Iran. I have not argued nor pretended that on this issue the contours are the same as those in the US, which has a different background on the issue. But that doesn't mean that people can take and use anyone who has committed a crime, who happens to be a religious minority, and pretend they were being executed or imprisoned for their religious beliefs!

You think I am going to pay close attention to any of these kind of nonsensical statements! I follow Iranian news closely, including perforce by those who are trying to falsify the truth constantly, and the only things that remotely relate to whatever he could be saying relates to Iran's fight with Kurdish separatists and ISIS.
