Moderators, I'm going to post this in News (because it is) and Political beliefs - where there is a thread on "Bringing back Old Southern Manners" running.

Folks, unless theris a common factor of a scheduled event that the White House missed, if one ever wanted proof that racism is alive and well in the United States, this is it. I also note that I think from a perusal of the NASCAR website, that not one single NASCAR driver is Black.

So much for "Old Southern Manners". So much for respecting the Office, if not the person, of The President of The United States. I think one of th drivers, Biffle, may possibly be forgiven since his wife recently gave birth, but Five out of Eleven?

I believe this action conclusively demonstrates that the well known Liberal stereotype of the Racist, Redneck, NASCAR watching Conservative has some basis in truth.

All are from SLave owning States with the exception of Indiana.

    Greg Biffle - North Carolina.

    Kurt Busch - North Carolina.

    Carl Edwards - Missouri.

    Kevin Harvick - North Carolina.

    Tony Stewart - Indiana.

Not one driver in the NASCAR circuit, as evidenced by their website is black.

I also note that the WHite House Schedule has had to be reworked to accommodate the GOP's plans. These Two events, taken together, are starting to look like studied contempt, even insolence, towards the Office and the man.

Kurt Busch brother of Kyle is originaly from Las Vegas NV. They call Las Vegas the Mississippi of the West. Because it ranks near the bottom of almost everything. But I highly doubt the Busch brothers are racist, they spell ther name Busch not Bush.

They are just being cordial, and do not want to upset those kinds of people who they race for.

Yea , I agree . Given the cross section of the NASCAR fanbase , I wouldn't blame these guys for what they did, I honestly believe it would hurt their marketability. It is sad that the office of the President has Been reduced to this level. It used to be a high honor to be invited to the whitehouse. The treatment this President has received from the rightwing media and rightwing of the government has been repugnant. Obama had a big hand in creating the atmosphere in which the disrespect blossomed. Had he been a man of conviction and courage he could have at least repaired the image of the office left in shambles frOm the last administration.

Obama is too young and hadnt worked hard enough to run and so needed to do something to earn the respect which head of state can give. Anyone right of center will think he has failed that requirement and so together it makes his tenure a sad state for the US in their eyes. In my opinion it is a bit of a joke really, pushed up into office like he was. That last election became way to much like a popularity contest then it should be allowed to do but if thats what it takes to get people interested in their countries destiny I guess thats what it takes but dont expect the office to be held in the same high regard as broadly across the political spectrum.

    FRODO.

I'm sure you have no clue what the schedule of a Sprint Cup driver entails.
They have had this day's events scheduled months ago. They are aslo in the heat of the "Chase for the Cup". Usually, the White House has these types of events after the Sports' season is over (I know you'll will predictably debate NASCAR even being a sport) but, as usual, this White House has no concept of anyone else's schedules or calander. (i.e. scheduling a Presidential speech during the GOP debate: then rescheduling for the start of the NFL (of course the NFL is not as important, but still just as untimely))

    Really?
OK, the 5 drivers NOT showing up are
Kurt Buch from Las Vegas, NV
    Tony Stewart from Columbus, IN
    Kevin Harvick from Bakerfield, CA
    Greg Biffle from Vancouver, WA
    and
    Carl Edwards from Columbia, MO

Golly, not exactly the North Carolina, Georgia, toothless Rednecks you assumed they were eh?
There's not a country boy in the bunch.
Stewart co-owns and runs his own 2 driver team, so I'm sure he is FAR busier on a daily basis than Obama ever is. (I'm not saying that his work is more important, certainly not, but he (Stewart) is at least "fairly" succesful at running his business)
